SEA SPOT RUN and JUSTA JET were the slowest from the traps. SECRET VENUS angled outwards at the end of the back straight with SEA SPOT RUN checking inwards and striking the rail losing many lengths with a post race veterinary check revealing no abnormalities. JUSTA JET ran very wide into the home straight. Just short of the line ROLLEM UP JOANY and MARMALADE SKIES came together when vying for a minor placing.

In an ordinary start ARCHIES DOLL and TIME FOR WHAT were the slowest to jump. OPAWA MOHAWK checked off the back TIME FOR WHAT into the bend and ran very wide along with OPAWA ZAC with these dogs losing a lot of ground. ARCHIES DOLL checked off the back of SECRET NICOLE into the first bend and lost ground. On the home turn OPAWA MOHAWK eased and dropped right away when some 80 metres from the lure. A post race veterinary check of OPAWA MOHAWK revealed no injury. After speaking to co-trainer Dave Fahey and taking into consideration the circumstances of the race Stewards decided that this dog must complete a satisfactory trial before next racing.
