Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Following the abandonement of Race 11 due to a lure breakdown, the problem was identified as a shoe that had come off the running rail causing the lure to lose power. Repairs were effected by the club electrician and the lure was tested a number of times satisfactorily. After consultation with the Veterinarian, Stewards acting under Rule 38.3. u. determined that in the interests of the welfare of the greyhounds, all trainers were given the option of withdrawing their dogs without penalty for the remainder of the programme. A number of trainers exercised this right and withdrew dogs in races 13, 14 and 15.

Race 1	CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C0 - 390	NEON NEUTRON and SECRET NICOLE both jumped awkwardly and lost momentum. TOP PLAYER shifted inwards racing into the first bend contacting NEON NEUTRON and checking the trailing MAGGIE DEE.. SECRET VENUS raced very wide in the home straight.
Race 2	SOUTHAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 457	TIME FOR WHAT was very slow to begin. TALK IT OVER was also slow over the early stages. Racing down the back straight OPAWA BART shifted inwards and crowded OPAWA JEN which lost momentum. Racing into the first bend UNO ORANGE shifted inwards abruptly and made contact with the rail before shifting outwards and checking OPAWA BART. UNO ORANGE checked off the heels of OPAWA BART on the last bend and checked the trailing TIME FOR WHAT and OPAWA JEN. Stewards ordered a Veterinary examination of UNO ORANGE which revealed no significant findings.
Race 3	$25 YARD MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390	Co-trainer Andy McCook advised that SUMMERLAND KING which was 1.8kgs below its last race weight was a planned decrease. SMASH AMEGO was slow to begin. Racing down the back straight FOGGY STORM and RAY DOSH bumped. SUMMERLAND KING checked off the heels of PARKERMON racing into the first bend. Rounding the bend PARKERMON lost ground when tightened for racing room between HAZZA'S LAD and PEGSON FIRE.
Race 4	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C1 - 390	Approaching the first bend PADDO SCORE was crowded for racing room by LADY LUCY before shifting outwards and colliding with NOISY LEO and RANGITOTO ROHI.
Race 5	DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER - C1 - 390	WHAT A DUMP and CANDY'S DANDY came together racing down the back straight. Racing into the first bend CANDY'S DANDY was checked when WHAT A DUMP shifted outwards onto BLACK OZARK and SALVADOR BALE. Shortly after WHAT A DUMP continued to shift outwards and bumped SALVADOR BALE with BLACK OZARK which was racing between both dogs being checked.
Race 6	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C1 - 457	When questioned regarding the 2.2kg weight increase of YELLOW DIAMONDS co-trainer Alan Joyce explained that due to the dog's poor recent form he spelled him for a month and increased the dog's weight in an attempt to improve YELLOW DIAMONDS performance. MERELY A DREAM was slow to begin. FIREMAN'S ROCKET checked off the heels of NEW YORK AFFAIR racing into the first bend and shifted outwards obliging MERELY A DREAM and YELLOW DIAMONDS to race wider. Early in the run home CROSSFIRE MAX collided with MERELY A DREAM.
Race 7	100% SELECTRIX - C3 - 390	Rounding the bend MUSTARD FUDGE shifted outwards and checked ELUSIVE DEEJAY which lost momentum. Shortly after WATERHOUSE was also checked by MUSTARD FUDGE which continued to shift wider on the track.
Race 8	BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C3 - 457	WHERE'S JOHN CEE shifted wider over the early stages checking MORNING WATCH. WHERE'S JOHN CEE ran outwards early in the run home obliging OPAWA RAPID and PUKEKO FLYER to race wide.
Race 9	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C2 - 390	BLICKLING BRIDGE crowded the racing room of FANCY SPICE over the early stages. Racing into the first bend FANCY SPICE was checked when TIE MY TIE and WANDY PAUL came together. Rounding the bend BLICKLING BRIDGE checked off the heels of RULE JUDGE JUDY. In the run home RULE JUDGE JUDY ran outwards checking BLICKLING BRIDGE.
Race 10	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C4 - 390	BENJI LAFOURCHE shifted down the track at the start checking THRILLING SADIE. Over the early stages NERD CORNER shifted inwards crowding GENISTA TORNADO. THRILLING SADIE checked off the heels of GENISTA TORNADO shortly after. Racing into the first bend FELIXSTOWE tightened GENISTA TORNADO which lost momentum. Stewards requested a Veterinary examination of GENISTA TORNADO which revealed no significant findings.
Race 11	$26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C5 - 457	The lure broke down after approximately 100 metres. All dogs were examined by the veterinarian post race. After consultation with the Veterinarian Lisa Stuart, Stewards declared in the interests of greyhound welfare that the race not be rerun and that it be declared a no race under Rule 76.1 and it was accordingly abandoned. BADJA BALE sustained an injury as the lure slowed down. Co-trainer Craig Roberts advised that BADJA BALE would now be retired. CYNTHIA BAXTER escaped the handler and ran off the track before being located safely a short time later on the racecourse. The dog was found to be suffering from bruising to the right elbow and a puncture wound to the right fore foot with a ten day stand down recommended. SAM I AM was found to be suffering from a webbing injury requiring sutures with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C5 - 390	Approaching the first bend ROSCA checked off the heels of JENNINGS. RED LABEL PENNY gave ground racing into the first bend. Stewards requested a Veterinary examination of RED LABEL PENNY which revealed no injury. Stewards will monitor the racing performance of RED LABEL PENNY in future races.
Race 13	Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 1	No racing incidents to report.
Race 14	Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 2	BABY JAMES and MONTY DOSH bumped shortly after the start. SEA SPRAY DORIS shifted outwards over the early stages forcing JOHNNY'S BLUE to race wider.
Race 15	Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 457 Heat 3	BOTANY MOLLY and NOVA'S FORTUNE came together at the start. Racing into the first bend BOTANY MOLLY and OPAWA STYLE collided.
