HAMPDEN SPIRIT was very slow to jump with WAZZA FREEBIE and DRIVE FIVE also tardy from the traps. LADY IN SHADES ran outwards into the bend checking DOGGER BANK who lost ground. DRIVE FIVE who was racing in behind these runners received a check at this stage and dropped to the rear.

LADY LUCY, PRIMITIVE and MAXIS MATE were the slowest from the traps. OPAWA CHARLIE angled outwards in the run down the back straight inconveniencing BOTANY NANA for a few strides. Wider out TEPIRITA ALI and AVEC LAMOUR ran inwards checking the favourite FLYING JOJO who lost ground. Robin Wales the Trainer of the winner OPAWA CHARLIE was questioned in regards to the improved performance of his dog. He stated that the dog had been sprinting well in trials of late and a revert back to a sprint race suited the dog.
