Weather: Fine
Track: Good The meeting was put back by 40 minutes due to a broken spring in the boxes causing the shearing of an air compression hose. This was discovered just prior to Race 1 after the boxes had been successfully utilised for trials. A new spring and new hose were both installed with no further problems. A crack in the lure arm was then discovered straight after Race 7 causing a five minute delay due to the new lure arm being fitted. These issues were unrelated with the Club advising that their normal pre race checks had been carried out.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Trainers A Joyce and M May were fined $100.00 as per the Minor Infringements Table after admitting a breach of Rule 69.11 the details of which are that STAR GUN weighed in at 32.6 kgs which was 2.1 kgs above his last race weight on 13 March 2012.

Race 1	CENTRAL WATER CARRIERS - C4 - 390	FREDDIE BAXTER was the last to jump. BLACK MERCEDES was badly checked into the bend as OBSESSED crossed from wider out with BLACK MERCEDES hitting the rail and losing ground. JOHNNIE GEORGE then angled outwards coming together with FREDDIE BAXTER and losing ground. On the bend SORRY VANDERFORD checked outwards off ICEBERG RAPPER and lost momentum for a stride. A post race veterinary check of BLACK MERCEDES revealed a triceps muscle injury with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 2	$26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C3 - 390	RED LABEL PENNY, VAMPIRES SHADOW and HOMEBUSH BORIS were the last to jump. MYRA BEE received some slight tightening into the bend as HOMEBUSH BORIS and DYNA BROWNLOW crossed from the outside. Wider out CAWBOURNE CATCH and VAMPIRES SHADOW came together with VAMPIRES SHADOW losing ground. On the home turn MYRA BEE angled inwards on the inside of HOMEBUSH BORIS and struck the rail with some force dropping to the rear. A post race veterinary check of MYRA BEE revealed no injury.
Race 3	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C2 - 390	STAR GUN weighed in 2.1kgs above his last race weight with the Trainers advising that this was planned weight increase. This information was passed on to the Trackside announcer for public dissemination. GOTTA FIND BUBBA and STAR GUN were the last to jump. OLD MATE DAVE crossed quickly to the inside tightening AUSSIE HAKA and SLIGHTLY AMAZING for a stride with HOMEBUSH CRAIG being inconvenienced in behind these runners. Into the bend WATERHOUSE angled inwards checking AUSSIE HAKA and OLD MATE DAVE. GOTTA FIND BUBBA then moved outwards causing another check to AUSSIE HAKA who dropped to the rear. AUSSIE HAKA and GOTTA FIND BUBBA came together in the home straight when well back. Paul Conner the part trainer of the winner BLACK TRIGGER was questioned in regards to the improved performance of his dog. He replied that he has changed the diet of all of his dogs recently and this has had a beneficial effect on BLACK TRIGGER.
Race 4	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C1 - 390	BLACK JAY and OLD OZARK were the last to jump. OLD OZARK remained wide throughout losing ground on the bends. HOT SHOT LAWYER and BLACK OZARK brushed together for a stride in the early stages. TOWER was tightened into the bend and lost ground along the rail. On the home turn LEGEND BEE ran wide losing ground but once balanced wore down the leader in the shadows of the post.
Race 5	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	TUI HOTLIPS was a clear last on jumping. FIRESIDE FOX and POWER GIRL came together soon after the jump. TUI HOTLIPS then received a check on the inside of FIRESIDE FOX into the bend losing a length. FIRESIDE FOX hit the rail at this stage losing ground with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. POWER GIRL was tightened on the turn as BLICKLING BRIDGE crossed her with BLICKLING BRIDGE then receiving a check as MOREPORT SHANNON crossed them both. JAFFA GUN and TUI HOTLIPS came together into the bend when both runners were at the rear.
Race 6	100% SELECTRIX - C0 - 390	FEAR GO was the last to jump. HAZZAS LAD ran inwards soon after the jump checking RUNWAY QUEEN and VICARS EXPRESS. Into the bend FERAL FOX got on the back of RUNWAY QUEEN who ran outwards into the path of FANCY SPICE. These dogs then ran outwards badly checking FEAR GO and FERAL FOX with FERAL FOX falling. FANCY SPICE then came together with RUNWAY QUEEN on the bend with FANCY SPICE falling. This dog then jumped the rail and ended up on the inside of the track at the lure. Post race veterinary check of all affected dogs were carried out. Of these VICARS EXPRESS was found to have triceps muscle pain with a fourteen day stand down recommended.
Race 7	SGRC LEATHER LEADS - C5 - 390	SANTA SLOY, HONKING HORNS and WHERES JOHN CEE were the last to jump. General tightening into the bend meant CAUGHT THE EYE, NOBLE ENFORCER and WHERES JOHN CEE all lost ground. On the home turn WHERES JOHN CEE was badly checked when racing in behind CAUGHT THE EYE and dropped to the rear.
Race 8	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C1/2 - 457	NERD CORNER and AVERT came together in the early stages. Into the bend RONRAY CRUISER and HOMEBUSH IRIS came together as RONRAY CRUISER crossed to the rail with HOMEBUSH IRIS losing ground and dropping to the rear.
Race 9	Racing Series Final - NZRSf - 457	KNOW ESCAPE and GEOFF THE REF were the slowest from the traps. Into the bend EMILY was dragged down by KNOW ESCAPE and ran outwards losing ground. KNOW ESCAPE and WALK DA TORQUE were badly inconvenienced in this incident and dropped to the rear. A post race veterinary check of EMILY revealed gracilis and thigh muscle pain with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 10	BRENDON BURKE @ FIRST NATIONAL - C4 - 457	OPAWA JOHNNY and AWESOME BENDER were the last to jump. Bronwyn Eade the trainer of the winner SHUNT APPEAL was questioned in regards to the improved performance of her dog. She replied that SHUNT APPEAL had recently been downgraded and has had no luck in his latest starts.
Race 11	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C5 - 457	TORQUED UP, BASILIO BALE and DYNA GROLL all received some tightening in the early stages. BASILIO BALE then shifted outwards pushing DYNA GROLL and BADJA BALE wide in the run down the back straight.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C3 - 390	DYNA DIEGO and GUY BAXTER were the last to jump. The favourite KNOCK EM and DYNA FRIER came together into the bend losing ground. Soon after CAWBOURNE HARVEY angled outwards with DYNA FRIER and KNOCK EM again receiving checks and losing momentum.
