Race 1 | Kissin Kate Sprint - C3 - 375 | PEKING TOM, PREDATOR DRONE and COOL AND DRY were the last to jump. Into the bend ANYTIME WILL DO crossed from his outside draw tightening a number of runners namely DONT KNOW, THRILLING HAVOC, FIJIAN SAM and PREDATOR DRONE with the last named dog the worst affected dropping to the rear. Barbara Craik the handler of the winner HARAJUKU GIRL was questioned in regards to the vastly improved run of her bitch. She replied that she had a bad injury in January and had no luck in her resuming run last week at Manukau. She added that the dog likes being on the pace and slow beginners on either side today gave her this opportunity. |
Race 2 | Waikato Appreciation Sprint - C0 - 375 | KINGS PORTRAIT was the last from the traps. HAIR SHE IS crossed to the rail into the bend tightening FUTURE PROOF who lost ground. She was noticed to be making ground well at the line. |
Race 3 | Captain Carlos @ Stud Sprint - C1 - 375 | OPEHU TIGER and EXCITING GIRL were the last to jump. In the home straight EXCITING GIRL checked off the heels of HOT LASS and lost ground and her chance. |
Race 4 | Happy 85th Birthday Max Sprint - C2 - 375 | WILD VAGABOND, LLAMEDOS and EMMA JAY were all tightened into the bend losing ground. WILD VAGABOND then ran wide on the bend covering extra territory. |
Race 5 | Thomas Jewellers Sprint - C1 - 375 | FIRESIDE BLAZE was tightened and lost ground into the bend. On the home turn HIT DA NOS ran outwards and marred the running of LOCKLINNE. Following the race Trainer Justin Foot admitted that HIT DA NOS had breached Rule 80.1.a with the dog being suspended for 28 days and ordered to complete a satisfactory trial. |
Race 6 | Commitee Stakes - C1 - 457 | Favourite THRILLING DEAL was the last to jump. BULET TOOTH TONY was checked from behind by THRILLING DEAL in the back straight and dropped to the rear. |
Race 7 | Spartacus $20,000 Pick6 Stakes - C2 - 457 | RUN FOR US and SPARTACUS were the last to jump. SPARTACUS ran inwards and came together with SHOULD BE CARLOS. Into the bend RUN FOR US angled outwards causing tightening to THRILLING APRIL and SHOULD BE CARLOS who both lost ground. Soon after SPARTACUS stumbled for a stride and lost ground with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
Race 8 | Karen Walsh Stakes - C4/5 - 457 | FANCY TOBY was the last to jump. Into the bend LOCHINVAR ELLE ran inwards tightening ENOUGH IS ENOUGH who fell. SWIFT SWINGER was also badly checked in this incident. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH regained his paws and completed the race with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
Race 9 | Matanuska Dash - C5 - 375 | RUSSELL HART and ROSCA were a stride slow to jump. Into the bend PROVEN SHELLY was badly tightened along the inside and dropped to the rear. PUNK DINO was observed to have a cut toe following the race with a fourteen day stand down recommended. |
Race 10 | South Waikato Cup - C5 - 457 | LOCHINVAR VALERO jumped inwards checking BIGTIME KINVARA for a stride at the jump with ANOTHER DOLLAR also receiving a check at this point. Into the bend OLLIE FONZ crossed to the rail badly tightening BARRYS WAY who checked outwards and into the path of ANOTHER DOLLAR who lost ground. |
Race 11 | Tokoroa & Districts Vets Sprint - C3/4 - 375 | FIND PEDRO was the last to jump. THRILLING RUST ran outwards on the home turn checking BLUE JEAN ALICE who lost ground. Soon after THRILLING RUST ran inwards as FIND PEDRO was running outwards with THRILLING RUST being severely checked and knocked off his feet for a stride. BLUE JEAN ALICE was again checked in this incident. A post race veterinary check of THRILLING RUST revealed lacerations with a five day stand down recommended. |
Race 12 | Dianne Lozell Stakes - C4 - 457 | The favourite CASH KNOCKA was handy until the home turn where he was dragged down from behind by MONSHIRAZ. This caused CASH KNOCKA to run outwards badly checking CAWBOURNE STARS with both runners dropping to the rear. A post race veterinary check of CASH KNOCKA revealed no injury. |
