Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: In race 3 HOMEBUSH SUE got away from her handler on the track ,and ran around to the boxes approx 75 metres and was caught ,the dog was not vetted before the start
The Stewards were doing other duties at that and were unaware that this had happened
The dog ran 2nd and showed no ill effects after the race, the trainer Mrs Gommans was spoken to regarding the event, with her explanation of the lead coming loose from the collar excepted on this occassion
The Stewards spoke to the parade stewards reminding them that incidents that happen need to be reported to be actioned in the future ,and were dissapointed that they were not contacted by radio

URITI STORM a runner in race 3 was a late scratching at the boxes on vets advice after handler Mr B Goldsack became aware that the dog was bleeding from his hind leg , the vet attended the start to assess the dog with the scratching recommended .
The Trainer Mr Holswitch was questioned regarding the injuries and as the dog had passed the pre race vet inspection it appears that the injuries must have happened in the kennels and nothing seemed to be amiss in the parade area
There were several negative comments regarding URITI STORM being led back from the start instead of holding the dog behind the boxes until the race was run
The reason for this is that URITI STORM is a strong dog and gets very upset when the lure is on the move ,for safety reasons of all runners the race was held up until the dog was safely back to the kennel block.
