Race 1 | Keyosk Service Bar Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 | RUN ALAN and PRINCELY DOLLAR came together wide on the track soon after the jump. Closer in FINN MCMISSILE ran inwards a shade pushing MANAPOURI down on to CARELESS TALK and FERAL FOX with these runners losing ground. MANAPOURI then ran outwards into the bend pushing CARELESS TALK over extra ground. On the home turn NEW INGILLTAB was held up when attempting to improve along the inside losing momentum and checking outwards. FERAL FOX ran outwards on the home turn pushing MANAPOURI wider. FINN MCMISSILE went on to win the race giving Luke Philips his first training success. |
Race 2 | Murray Hill Life Member Sprint - C1 - 310 | HOT SHOT LAWYER was presented 1.8 kgs above his last race weight with the kennel advising that this was a planned weight increase. STARBURST LEE ran outwards in the early stages crowding KNOCK EM, HOT SHOT LAWYER and BLACK OZARK for a few strides. PURE THEATRE ran outwards into the bend pushing FIRESIDE FOX over extra ground. FIRESIDE FOX then raced awkwardly for a few strides before running inwards and coming together with HOT SHOT LAWYER with both runners losing momentum. |
Race 3 | John Mills Life Member Stakes - C0 - 545 | CHOOSE TO LOVE and OZARKS CROWN came together soon after the jump wide out. In the early stages OPAWA BOMB ran inwards pushing kennelmate OPAWA RAPID into the fence with OPAWA RAPID losing ground. He ran on well for fourth. OZARKS CROWN ran wide into the first bend losing ground. GEORGE BAXTER was handy until the home straight where he dropped out to run last. A post race veterinary check of GEORGE BAXTER revealed that the dog had tied up with no stand down recommended. |
Race 4 | Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 | LYNDOUR GEM stopped over the concluding stages dropping out to last with a post race veterinary check revealing severe cramp. Trainers Janine Jopson and Andy McCook advised Stewards that the dog will now be retired. |
Race 5 | Speedprint Shop Sprint - C1 - 310 | MOREPORT SHANNON and TOWER were a shade slow to jump. Into the bend CAWBOURNE HEIDI ran inwards at the same time as OLD OZARK and TIE MY TIE came together closer to the inside and checked outwards. This resulted in WHERES SLOY and TIE MY TIE both losing ground and CAWBOURNE HEIDI scouting wide around that bend. |
Race 6 | Norwood Farm Machinery Sprint - C2 - 310 | AUSSIE HAKA was the last to jump from the inside. CLUTTER BUG was handy into the bend but briefly came together with ETCHED IN STONE and shifted outwards into the path of ANOTHER LEGIN.with CLUTTER BUG being badly checked and dropping back through the field. An improving AUSSIE HAKA was badly inconvenienced at this stage and dropped to the rear. A post race veterinary check of CLUTTER BUG revealed no injury. |
Race 7 | NZRS Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 545 Heat 1 | FELIXSTOWE and AVERT came together for a stride into the first bend with AVERT shifting outwards as a result. This pushed SEA SPRAY DORIS wider with this dog checking off the back of AVERT and contacting EL KILDA who was badly checked and lost ground. He dropped out to finish last with a post race veterinary check revealing a sore shoulder with a fourteen day stand down recommended. |
Race 8 | John Wilson Life Member Stakes - C3 - 545 | CAWBOURNE JAKE shifted outwards in the early stages tightening OPAWA STYLE and OPAWA FLYER who lost ground. Into the bend OPAWA FLYER ran very wide losing ground. Closer in RITZA NIGHT checked off the back of WODSTON BOBO into the bend as that runner crossed to the rail. RITZA NIGHT lost a couple of lengths at this stage but recovered to wear down the leader in the shadows of the post. On the home turn GENTLE HAND checked off the back of HOMEBUSH FRASER losing ground and then came together with OPAWA STYLE losing more momentum. |
Race 9 | Crafty Tiree Memorial Sprint - C3/4 - 310 | ITS NOT EASY was the last to emerge from the traps. KNOW ESCAPE was tightened between ANY BAD HABITS and ALBIES LAD soon after the jump. At the lure KNOW ESCAPE managed to get his paw stuck in his muzzle causing some discomfort before being freed with no apparent injury as a result. |
Race 10 | NZRS Graduation Heats - NZRSq - 545 Heat 2 | KOMBUCHA and BAKE BEAN BETTY were the last to jump. THRILLING JONAH and HOMEBUSH IRIS came together into the first bend with HOMEBUSH IRIS losing ground. Into the back straight MORNING WATCH angled outwards into the path of OKUKU SURPRISE who fell. He regained his paws and finished the event with a post race veterinary check revealing a shoulder injury with a seven day stand down recommended. On the home turn ATTIRE lost some momentum as THRILLING JONAH passed him and crossed to the rail in front. |
Race 11 | Misty Anna Memorial Bracelet - C3/4 - 310 | THRILLING CLOVER was the last to jump. Wide out the kennelmates NATALIA BALE and OBSESSED came together on two occasions. Into the bend JACKPOT JACKIE ran outwards inconveniencing HOT MANGO, NATALIA BALE and OBSESSED with the latter pair of dogs both being forced over a lot of extra ground. |
Race 12 | Roofing Solutions Sprint - C3 - 310 | CAWBOURNE CATCH was the last to jump. GAZZAS PRIDE and GENISTA LIGHTNIN were tightened in the early stages. CAWBOURNE CATCH was tightened into the bend as JOHNNIE GEORGE crossed to the rail with CAWBOURNE CATCH dropping to the rear. On the home turn GENISTA LIGHTNIN and STAGS INGILL came together when well back. |
Race 13 | Racing Again 13th March Dash - C5 - 310 | CAWBOURNE LEVI was the last to jump from the inside. WEONA DARLING was desparate to get away from the inside in the run down the back straight checking HONKING HORNS and CAWBOURNE FLIPPA. WEONA DARLING was then turned sideways by pressure from the outside and continued to come together with HONKING HORNS as he attempted to get to the rail. As a result these dogs lost ground and their chances. The winner EMERGE had a very tender pad after the race but no stand down was considered necessary by the veterinary surgeon. |
