Race 1 Merv Fahey Memorial - C0 - 520 FANTA ALERT and OPAWA BLAZE were slow to jump. At the jump KOMBUCHA ran inwards checking both OPAWA BLAZE who lost ground and JUST KRISTY. JUST KRISTY received another check into the first bend as FANTA ALERT improved along her inside and dropped to the rear.
Race 2 Jackie McLay Memorial - C0 - 295 The favourite WISE WONDER was again slow from the inside. BIGTIME YAHOO ran inwards in the early stages and checked SYRIPS GIRL and OPAWA DOLL who lost ground. Into the bend the pacemaking NIKAU DANNY ran outwards inconveniencing BIGTIME YAHOO. WISE WONDER checked outwards off OHOKA GERRY soon after and lost ground. On the home turn BIGTIME YAHOO ran outwards and clipped the rear end of LEGEND BEE with that runner losing momentum and BIGTIME YAHOO losing ground. A post race veterinary check of LEGEND BEE revealed no injury.
Race 3 Ritchies Coachlines Dash - C1 - 295 ZED KAY MAN made his customary slow beginning from the outside. HOMEBUSH KALAMA angled towards the rail in the early stages tightening ANOTHER RAEWYN who lost ground. Soon after WOT PRICE CURLY ran outwards into the path of PHAEDRAS FIRST who fell. ZED KAY MAN was forced wide when attempting to improve on the home turn and lost ground. PHAEDRAS FIRST regained her paws and finished the race hitting the lure with some force with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury.
Race 4 Bill Kingston Memorial - C1 - 520 OKUKU SURPRISE was slow to jump. As he attempted to improve into the first bend he was tightened and ran outwards into the path of OPAWA PEEKAY who was badly checked and CAWBOURNE HEIDI who was pushed very wide losing many lengths. A post race veterinary check of OPAWA PEEKAY revealed no injury.
Race 5 Dave Davies Memorial - C2 - 295 TRICKY HARRY and HOMEBUSH CRAIG were a shade slow to begin. Soon after the jump LIGHTNING FEVER ran inwards contacting FULLA PRIDE for a stride. The pacemaking LADAKH moved off the rail in the back straight taking the line of HOMEBUSH BORIS who was forced to go to the inside losing momentum for a short time.
Race 6 Gary Denovan Memorial - C3 - 520 CROSS TO DAPTO ran outwards soon after the jump tightening GENTLE HAND and GUY BAXTER who dropped to the rear. The favourite NINAS GIRL wanted to get away from the rail with HOMEBUSH WILD going to the inside to find room into the first bend. NINAS GIRL forced ANYTIME WILL DO over extra ground in the back straight and again ran outwards in the home straight. A post race veterinary check of NINAS GIRL revealed a slight hock strain with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 7 Ethel Sibley Memorial - C3 - 295 This race was put back by two minutes due to a delay at the Oamaru harness meeting. OKUKU BOBO ran inwards a few strides after the jump causing tightening to JUMPIN JULIA, LETS DEBATE and ROSCA.
Race 8 Dave Busch Memorial - C4 - 520 ITS NOT EASY was last to jump. Wider out DYNA FRIER angled outwards checking KING OF CLUBS who dropped to the rear. DYNA FRIER checked off the back of runners into the first bend and lost momentum also running wide checking KING OF CLUBS and OPAWA JOHNNY who both lost ground.
Race 9 Pat Cagney Memorial - C5 - 295 Soon after the jump KNOW ATTENTION was badly tightened as DIXIE LEE ran inwards and ADINI shifted outwards. Into the bend COOL CHARMER was checked as she couldn't quite cross NIPPA MARY and was dragged down as a result. ADINI was held up in behind COOL CHARMER and checked outwards badly inconviencing KNOW ATTENTION and DIXIE LEE with these three dogs losing their chances. Post race veterinary checks of COOL CHARMER and ADINI revealed no injuries.
Race 10 Colin Counsell Memorial - C5 - 520 AWESOME BENDER was the last to jump. The favourite YELLA MUSTARD checked outwards off the pacemaking GRACE HILL into the first bend and lost ground with KNOW WHICH being forced wide around that bend and also losing her position. YELLA MUSTARD made ground well for third.
Race 11 Elvin Hibbs Memorial - C4 - 295 MY SOLUTION and FEARSOME MCKAY came together for a stride soon after the jump. Into the bend FEARSOME MCKAY ran outwards coming together with EXCITING KYLE and losing ground with KNOW ESCAPE and JACKSON CAT being checked in behind these runners. On the home turn MY SOLUTION ran outwards on to JED NORTON pushing this dog very wide. He then marred this runner in the run home with JED NORTON losing his chance. Trainer Dave Fahey admitted that MY SOLUTION had breached Rule 80.1.a. in that he marred JED NORTON. As this was the third charge under Rule 80 against this dog MY SOLUTION was suspended for one year and must complete a satisfactory trial.
Race 12 Gerald & Lindsay Cleeve Memorial - C2 - 520 SEISMIC STORM, KNOW FUTURE and SALVADOR BALE were slow to jump. ULTIMATE SPICE was dragged down into the first bend losing ground and in behind SALVADOR BALE checked off THRILLING JONAH and lost his position.
