Judicial report: FAIR MOVIN ( M Flipp) was a late scratching for Race 17 after she escaped from the van during pre-race trials and ventured on to the track suffering some lacerations as she escaped. Stewards inspected the van of Ms Flipp and found that she had made every effort to have the dog safely held and no further action was deemed necessary. Trainer Deane Stapleton was fined $100.00 under the Minor Infringements Table after admitting a breach of Rule 69.11 when HOMEBUSH NORMAN weighed in at 35.6 kgs which was 1.6 kgs under his last race weight on 16 December 2011.

Race 1 | Otago First4 Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 | GRANT A DOLLAR was very slow to jump and stumbled soon after. In the run down the back straight this dog then ran inwards sharply and made solid contact with the rail. A post race veterinary check revealed a fractured or dislocated toe with a 28 day stand down recommended. JAMES ARTHUR was tightened into the bend and then ran outwards coming together with FERAL FOX for a stride. On the home turn HIT THE LIP checked outwards and pushed PHAEDRAS FIRST and JAMES ARTHUR wide around that bend with these two runners losing momentum. |
Race 2 | Happy New Year Stakes - C0 - 545 | KOMBUCHA ran outwards soon after the jump and checked PUKEKO FLYER and NEW INGILLTAB who lost ground. Soon after SEA SPRAY DORIS ran outwards and came together with OKUKU CRACKER for a stride. PUKEKO FLYER and NEW INGILLTAB came together with a lap to go when at the rear and soon after KOMBUCHA as she was angling outwards contacted OKUKU CRACKER for a stride. At the end of the back straight an improving OKUKU CRACKER checked off the heels of SECRET NICOLE and lost momentum. |
Race 3 | www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 310 | SENSITIVE LAND was last to jump. Soon after the start HOMEBUSH NORMAN angled inwards dictating NAEVIA on to the favourite MORE MODEL who ducked inwards and hit the rail dropping to the rear. A post race veterinary check of MORE MODEL revealed no injury. |
Race 4 | Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C2 - 310 | The fagvourite FIREMANS ESCORT received a severe check into the bend when on the heels of OLD MATE DAVE as that dog angled inwards. FIREMANS ESCORT ran outwards as she lost ground pushing WOT PRICE AGRO and GAZZAS PRIDE wider with these dogs losing ground. A post race veterinary check of FIREMANS ESCORT revealed no injury. |
Race 5 | Keyosk Service Bar Sprint - C1 - 310 | VITALIZE, MEECES TO PIECES and HALF THROTTLE were tardy from the boxes. OLD OZARK wanted away from the rails in the back straight making brief contact with the back of OPAWA JACK and then checking further outwards off the back of PEGSON FIRE. This pushed HALF THROTTLE to the outside of the track with this runner hitting the fence and losing all chance. Post race veterinary checks of OLD OZARK and HALF THROTTLE revealed minor lacerations to OLD OZARK with no stand down. However HALF THROTTLE received a stapled toe along with skin lacerations with a twelve day stand down recommended. |
Race 6 | Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 | BRASSED OFF ducked outwards checking UNSHAKEN for a stride at the jump and then ran inwards coming together with kennelmate MY BLIND SIDE with these two runners settling at the rear. Soon after SPACE RACE was keen to get to the inside and this combined with WEARY TRAVELER running outwards caused checks to SPACE RACE, BRASSED OFF and MY BLIND SIDE who all lost ground. |
Race 7 | Forbury Park Sprint - C1 - 310 | The favourite ETCHED IN STONE was the slowest to jump but recovered quickly to be handy into the bend and win well. SHEZA COOL ONE was tightened on the home turn and dropped out to the rear. There was no head on view available for this event. |
Race 8 | Roofing Solutions Sprint - C3 - 310 | BLACK MERCEDES ran outwards at the jump checking KINGA COOP and JOHNNIE GEORGE who dropped to the rear. On the home turn RAISINS and HARMONY BAXTER came together as RAISINS improved along the inside with HARMONY BAXTER losing some momentum. |
Race 9 | Norwood Farm Machinery Centre - C4 - 310 | Due to a harness event at Oamaru running behind time this race was delayed by four minutes. HOMEBUSH LIGNITE and KINGA RYAN were the last to jump. BONUS BOND and FEARSOME MCKAY were both checked as BONUS BOND wanted to get away from the rail and wider out GENISTA LIGHTNIN ran inwards causing tightening. WODSTON BOBO and KINGA RYAN came together into the bend for a stride and soon after BONUS BOND and FEARSOME MCKAY jostled for a few strides when at the rear. |
Race 10 | Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Stakes - C2 - 545 | This race ran two minutes behind time due to the delay in the previous race. KINGSTON FLYER and REAL SLIM SHADY were the last to jump. THRILLING SADIE was forced wide around the first bend as SEA SPRAY TICH shifted outwards with the kennelmates SLIGHTLY AMAZING and REAL SLIM SHADY also covering extra ground at this stage. REAL SLIM SHADY received another check into the back straight as THRILLING SADIE and BOTANY GARETH came together on his inside. THRILLING SADIE and KINGSTON FLYER came together on the home turn for a stride when well back. |
Race 11 | Forbury Bracelet - C1 - 310 | In a tightly compacted field into the bend ICEBERG RAPPER was dragged down with KNOW LOVE AFFAIR and OKUKU LILLY being badly checked. These three dogs lost their chances at this point with a post race veterinary check of ICEBERG RAPPER revealing no injury. |
Race 12 | Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C3 - 310 | ACHEW ACHEW came up with the lids and settled last. SING CILLA BLACK ran outwards in the early stages checking STAGS INGILL and CLUTTER BUG. Towards the inside GEORGIE LEE and WHAT A PEANUT came together and lost momentum. |
Race 13 | Green Island Barber Stakes - C3 - 545 | SALVADOR BALE and RINGOS COLT were tightened and lost ground into the first bend as MORNING WATCH shifted outwards and NINAS GIRL angled inwards. Into the back straight RINGOS COLT received a nasty check and dropped to the rear. |
Race 14 | Super Liquor Green Island Sprint - C5 - 310 | RUSSELL HART and FOUR BY TWO came together into the bend for a stride. Closer in HONKING HORNS angled outwards causing checks to SISSI, SORRY VANDERFORD, HAMPDEN JACK and STARBURST SUZIE all of whom lost ground. |
Race 15 | Speedprint Shop Stakes - C5 - 545 | YELLA MUSTARD and SHUNT APPEAL were the last to jump. Into the bend DEVOTCHKA ran inwards contacting YELLA MUSTARD with DEVOTCHKA losing ground. Soon after YELLA MUSTARD ran outwards making solid contact with BADJA BALE who lost some momentum. |
Race 16 | St Kilda Veterinary Centre Sprint - C4 - 310 | GENISTA GARDENS and CAUGHT THE EYE were the last to jump. Into the bend TEPIRITA TIKI was badly tightened in between MAGIC YOU and CAUGHT THE EYE with TEPIRITA TIKI being dragged down and falling. GENISTA GARDENS was badly checked in this incident. TEPIRITA TIKI completed the race with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
Race 17 | Racing Again Tuesday 24th January Dash - C5 - 310 | CAWBOURNE DUSTY was last to jump and then checked off CAWBOURNE ICE into the bend remaining well back. |
