LIAM TITLE was slow to jump and the favourite MR. BIG STUFF scrambled away settling at the rear. TOTALLY CONFUSED ran inwards in the run down the back straight and tightened BOTANY STORY who lost ground. Into the bend FOGGY STORM was keen to get away from the rail and in doing so checked MERMAN JEWEL, HOMEBUSH ACE, MR. BIG STUFF and LIAM TITLE all of whom lost momentum.

Permission was granted for INGA THE WINGA to be boxed first due to being difficult to box in previous starts with this information being relayed by the commentator. SMOOCHA, SERAPHINE JEWEL and RED LABEL PENNY were all tightened and lost ground in the early stages as DUKE OF FERN ran outwards and INGA THE WINGA angled towards the inside. Following the race SMOOCHA was observed to be limping with the veterinarian reporting that the dog was suffering from cramp with no stand down being deemed necessary.

Co-trainer Tony Hart when questioned in regards to the performance of HOT SHOT LAWYER told Stewards that the dog was very green and that he thought he would improve with his first look at the track.
