Judicial report: The harness track was being prepared for a speedway meeting tomorrow night. This caused quite a bit of dust to be blown over the track due to the strong winds that prevailed. The harness track was regularly watered in an attempt to control this dust.

Race 1	MARGARET TURNER'S BIRTHDAY DASH - C4 - 390	SUNSET BOMBER ran inwards at the jump checking ACHEW ACHEW who dropped to the rear. He made ground well for fourth. SUNSET BOMBER then ran outwards on the point of the turn with WAFFLER, HOMEBUSH SARINA and ANOTHER WISH being inconvenienced for a few strides. On the bend WHERES ROBYN ducked outwards checking MYRA BEE who stumbled and was turned sideways dropping to the rear. A post race veterinary check of MYRA BEE revealed wounds to her left hind foot requiring staples with a ten day stand down stand down recommended.
Race 2	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C4 - 390	WHERES JOHN CEE was last to jump. SING CILLA BLACK was momentarily tightened as DOGGER BANK crossed in front of her in the early stages. VAMPIRES SHADOW and ANOTHER NICK came together soon after the jump and settled at the rear. SING CILLA BLACK was tightened into the bend and dropped to the rear. Soon after VAMPIRES SHADOW ran outwards forcing REAL CLEVER and WHERES JOHN CEE over extra ground.
Race 3	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C0 - 390	RED ROD was slow to jump. FERAL FOX ran outwards into the bend coming together with SECRET NICOLE for a stride with SECRET NICOLE losing ground. On the bend HAMPDEN SPIRIT checked outwards off MEMPHIS HOTCAKES and lost ground. On the home turn SECRET VENUS ran outwards severely checking FERAL FOX who dropped out to last with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury.
Race 4	KRISTY EADE'S BIRTHDAY SPRINT - C1 - 390	BOMBAY TRAM was tightened at the jump as REAL SLIM SHADY jumped outwards and RED TIGER angled inwards. Wider out CEE CEE ARE was checked as AUSSIE HAKA crossed him from the outside.
Race 5	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	KNOW ESCAPE ran inwards at the jump checking FOGGY STORM and NERD CORNER. Soon after RISING MERCURY and JAFFA GUN came together for a stride. On the bend NIGELS DRIVING checked outwards off NERD CORNER and lost ground.
Race 6	100% SELECTRIX - C2 - 390	LIFE WITH DEXTER and TUI HOTLIPS came together in the back straight and dropped to the rear. The replay of the home straight footage revealed that in the straight TUI HOTLIPS propped and stopped when at the rear and out of contention completing the race some distance from the field. A post race veterinary check of TUI HOTLIPS revealed no injury. It was established that a tractor/water tank was attending to the harness track prior to the race attempting to stop dust from blowing over the Greyhound track. This tanker was stopped prior to the race starting. This tractor/water tank then started up as the dogs turned for home making a loud noise audible from the grandstands startling the dog which was only some 20 metres from the tanker and racing in last position. After considering the unusual circumstances of this incident and hearing from witnesses together with Trainer Richard Breen, Stewards gave the benefit of the doubt to TUI HOTLIPS and decided not to press a charge against the dog. His immediate racing manners will however be closely monitored. The club contacted the water tanker driver and the course caretaker who were advised that the machine should not be used until races are concluded in future.
Race 7	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C3 - 390	SLIGHTLY AMAZING was the last to jump. DAUNTING was badly tightened into the bend losing ground and dropping to the rear. Soon after RUSSELL HART, CAUGHT THE EYE and WHAT A PEANUT all came together and lost momentum.
Race 8	Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Final - C0f - 457	PUKEKO FLYER was last to jump. KNOW TRUST and GONE AWOL came together into the bend and lost ground.
Race 9	BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERN WIDE - C4/5 - 457	SHAKEY BAKE and WODSTON BOBO came together soon after the jump and settled at the rear. DYNA FRIER ran outwards in the back straight inconveniencing BOTANY KELLY and EMILY BAXTER who both lost ground.
Race 10	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C3/4 - 457	TEPIRITA TIKI was awkwardly away settling a clear last. MAGIC YOU and HOMEBUSH FRASER came together into the bend and lost ground. Trainer Richard Breen was questioned in regards to the improved effort of the winner HAMPDEN JACK. He informed Stewards that the wide draw is of great benefit to his dog and this combined with a drop in class made him confident of a bold showing today.
Race 11	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C5 - 390	HONKING HORNS and HOMEBUSH LIGNITE were both badly tightened into the bend as GENISTA TORNADO crossed from their outside. The former two dogs both dropped away with post race veterinary checks revealing no injuries.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C5 - 390	LES BAXTER ducked outwards soon after the jump causing MUSTARD FUDGE and SOSAN to lose ground. Into the bend THRILLING CLOVER and HOMEBUSH REECE were both tightened and lost ground along the inside. Marginally short of the finishing line LES BAXTER was tightened and fell with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury.
