Incident Reports

Race Number Race Name Incident Report
Race 1 Otago First4 Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 BRASCH was very slow to jump. BELFAST CHUKKA ran inwards soon after the jump tightening PHAEDRAS FIRST, HIT THE LIP and FULL OF VINO with the latter two runners dropping to the rear. HIT THE LIP then made solid contact with the rail just prior to the turn and dropped away with a post race veterinary check revealing a cut stifle requiring sutures with a fourteen day stand down recommended. MAN OH MAN ran wide into the home turn and came together with FERAL FOX who was on his outside and angling inwards. Stewards viewed the head on replays of the run down the home straight that showed these two dogs coming together on several occasions thus causing both dogs to lose momentum. The replays also confirmed that neither dog turned its head with no further action being deemed necessary.
Race 2 www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 310 CEE CEE ARE was tightened soon after the jump and dropped to the rear. This runner then ran wide into the bend losing ground. PADDO SCORE and HOMEBUSH NORMAN were also tightened in the early stages along the inside. Into the bend WANDY GENO ran inwards and this together with PADDO SCORE wanting to get to the outside caused TOWER and COOLS THE TUNE to be checked. PADDO SCORE was badly checked and lost its chance in this incident with a post race veterinary check revealing a torn shoulder muscle with a 28 day stand down recommended.
Race 3 St Kilda Tavern Sprint - C2 - 310 This race was delayed by 2 minutes due to an enquiry at the Manawatu harness meeting. FULLA PRIDE was the last to jump. DIXIE LEE checked off the back of STARBURST LEE into the bend when racing in tight quarters. Soon after this HOMEBUSH DIGBY checked outwards with this pushing DIXIE LEE and FULLA PRIDE very wide and extinguishing their chances.
Race 4 Happy Birthday Tracy M. - C1 - 310 Favourite AUSSIE HAKA received a slight check soon after the jump settling midfield. He ran on well for second. WHAT WHERE WHEN ran wide into the bend and pushed NIGELS DRIVING and NAEVIA over extra ground with these three dogs losing their chances post this incident.
Race 5 Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 WATERVIEW LASS ran outwards at the jump pushing REAL SLIM SHADY wider for a stride. Into the first bend MY BLIND SIDE checked off SEISMIC STORM and lost ground. As he was losing his place MIGHTY PROPHET checked him from behind and both runners dropped to the rear. A post race veterinary check of MY BLIND SIDE revealed no injury. CAWBOURNE JAKE and TEDDY NOVA came together momentarily on the home turn.
Race 6 Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C4 - 310 AINT THAT COOL was last to jump. AINT THAT COOL and WHERES JOHN CEE bumped for a stride nearing the end of the back straight and soon after AINT THAT COOL ran wide pushing WHERES JOHN CEE and GENISTA OUTLAW over extra ground around the bend.
Race 7 Super Liquor Green Island Sprint - C3 - 310 GOSS SAGE was tightened and dropped to the rear soon after the jump. JOHNNIE GEORGE and LIFE WITH DEXTER came together into the bend with LIFE WITH DEXTER losing ground along the inside. Wider out the pacemakers COT CASE CUTIE and BLACK MERCEDES came together and dragged each other down with MR. CAMEROON having to scout wide to avoid these runners. COT CASE CUTIE and BLACK MERCEDES both dropped to the rear following this incident with post race veterinary checks revealing no injuries. On the home turn LIFE WITH DEXTER ran outwards when improving and came together with COT CASE CUTIE. Following the race GOSS SAGE was found to have a cut on his stopper pad with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 8 Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C4 - 310 SUNSET BOMBER weighed in 1.7kgs above his last race weight with new trainer Deane Stapleton advising that this was a planned weight gain. FREDDIE BAXTER and WHERES ROBYN crossed quickly from their outside draws causing severe tightening to all runners on their inside with CAWBOURNE SCAREY, BONUS BOND, HOMEBUSH SARINA and LIAM BALE the worst affected. LIAM BALE clipped the rail and raced awkwardly for a few strides thereafter with a post race veterinary check revealing superficial cuts with no stand down deemed necessary. Soon after BONUS BOND ran outwards checking CAWBOURNE SCAREY who dropped to the rear. Trainer John McInerney could offer no explanation for the winner's improved effort other than that the race was a grade below the Galaxy heat two weeks ago and today he was able to jump and get to his preferred rail position.
Race 9 Noel Welsh Memorial Stakes - C2/3 - 545 HOMEBUSH WILD ducked outwards at the jump checking WEARY TRAVELER who lost ground. Simultaneously wider out SLIGHTLY AMAZING also jumped outwards with CROSSFIRE MAX receiving a check and settling at the rear. SLIGHLY AMAZING led for most of the journey but stopped badly in the run home. A post race veterinary check revealed that the dog had tied up with trainer Allan Joyce informing Stewards that it was the dog's first run for six weeks and should improve with the run.
Race 10 St Kilda Veterinary Centre Sprint - C5 - 310 SANTA SLOY ducked outwards at the jump inconveniencing ANY BAD HABITS and MISSYS DAUGHTER who settled at the rear. Into the bend TRILOGY SERIES checked outwards off CAWBOURNE MOFF with ANY BAD HABITS being pushed very wide and losing his chance. Trainer Marcie Flipp was questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner FAIR MOVIN. She replied that the dog had improved with her Galaxy run and had trialled well last week at Forbury. The easier class of the race also helped in her form reversal.
Race 11 Roofing Solutions Sprint - C1 - 310 KATIE HAKA was tightened soon after the jump and dropped to the rear. On the bend ICEBERG RAPPER checked off runners and lost ground. Handler in charge of the winner WANDY OLIVIA was questioned in regards to this runner's improved performance. He stated that the bitch received a chequered run in her first start in New Zealand at Ascot Park when expected to run well and had improved since that run which was her first for nearly three months.
Race 12 Racing Again 29th November Dash - C5 - 310 SIX TO MIDNIGHT was tightened between KNOW RIVAL and PURE AND SPECIAL into the bend and lost ground as KNOW RIVAL attempted to move away from the rail.
