Race 2 COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C4 - 390 OPAWA FLYER and BRUNO were the tardiest from the traps. SING CILLA BLACK ran out of room when attempting to improve on the bend and lost ground. On the home turn SING CILLA BLACK checked outwards forcing BRUNO over extra ground with both dogs losing ground.

GOTTA FIND BUBBA was subject to a post race veterinary check that revealed shoulder pain with a ten day stand down recommended.
Race 4 www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C1 - 390 One of the favourites JUMPIN JULIA ran outwards contacting JAFFA GUN on two occasions in the back straight with FOGGY STORM and RED TIGER being tightened in behind. JUMPIN JULIA then checked off JAFFA GUN on the bend and dropped to the rear where she stayed.
Race 5 $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390 RED LABEL PENNY was last to jump. This dog received a rails run on the turn and ran away for a convincing win. MAINLAND SONIC and BLACK JAY were both tightened into the bend as BOMBAY TRAM crossed to the rail in front of them. On the home turn LIGHTNING FEVER improved between runners and pushed WHAT WHERE WHEN and KNOW ESCAPE wider with these two dogs losing momentum.
Race 6 ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C2 - 390 KUNG FU TEDDY ducked outwards checking CAWBOURNE COOKIE for a stride at the jump. Into the bend JIMMY CEE was attempting to get away from the rail as CAWBOURNE HARVEY was angling in from the outside. This resulted in CAWBOURNE COOKIE being turned sideways and losing ground with CAWBOURNE CHLOE and FIERY FLOWER also being inconvenienced. In the run home CAWBOURNE HARVEY ran outwards when obtaining racing room and made solid contact with RUSSELL HART who lost momentum.
Race 7 Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 1 FURIOUS RESPONSE and NEW ORDER were the slowest to jump. OPAWA PEEKAY ran inwards in the back straight tightening FURIOUS RESPONSE and making contact with the rail on two occasions. A post race veterinary check of OPAWA PEEKAY revealed no injury. First starter PUKEKO FLYER ran wide around the home bend losing ground but once balanced finished strongly to run into second placing.
Race 8 Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 2 WOT PRICE CURLY ran outwards soon after the dispatch with DOOSRA, SECRET VENUS, SOCRATES and KOMBUCHA all being inconvenienced and losing ground.
Race 9 Mervyn Eade Memorial Rookie Run Heats - C0q - 457 Heat 3 BORIS MANKINI and UPSALA JEWEL both had weight fluctuations of more than 2 kgs from their last starts with their respective new trainers confirming with Stewards that these variances were planned. GLAM NATION was tightened by UNSHAKEN into the bend and lost ground with RHYTHM IN BLUE, SECRET NICOLE and UPSALA JEWEL all losing ground at the rear. GLAM NATION and SECRET NICOLE came together on the home turn when well back. BORIS MANKINI ran wide into the bend and eased for a few strides losing ground. He recovered to be handy on the turn and battled for third. A post race veterinary check revealed pain in the right shoulder and a resistance to extension of that shoulder with a fourteen day stand down recommended with the Veterinary Surgeon advising that the reluctance to stretch the right shoulder could explain the slight easing around the bend. Trainer Bruce Dann advised Stewards that the dog would be trialled again before racing next and its immediate racing would be confined to sprints.
Race 10 100% SELECTRIX - C1 - 457 MIGHTY PROPHET ran outwards in the early stages checking CAWBOURNE TANK and MR. KNOWALL. He continued his outwards movement into the bend with mR. KNOWALL and HOOTA SAID being inconvenienced and losing ground.
