Judicial report: Trainer Alison Lee reported to Stewards that following his race last Thursday at Addington OSWALD BOATENG was found to have a swollen toe. CAWBOURNE MOFF, ANOTHER REBEL and JESTER all completed satisfactory trials as required by Rule 81.

Race 1 | Otago First4 Sprint - C1 - 310 | BLACK TRIGGER and the favourite ALS BEST MATE were the last to jump. ALS BEST MATE ran outwards in the back straight and came into contact with BLACK JAY for a stride. ALS BEST MATE then pushed out BLACK JAY and CURRAHEE into the bend with these two runners losing ground. ALS BEST MATE ran on well for second once he found room to improve. On the home turn CEE CEE ARE checked outwards off MR. CAMEROON and lost ground. |
Race 2 | www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C0 - 310 | SECRET ICE and HAMPDEN PRIDE were slow to jump. SENSITIVE LAND ran outwards soon after the jump checking CAWBOURNE MILLY, HAMPDEN SPIRIT and BRASCH who lost ground. HOMEBUSH SUE ran outwards just prior to the bend inconveniencing SECRET ICE and BRASCH for a stride. HAMPDEN PRIDE and BELFAST CHUKKA came together into the bend and soon after the favourite BRASCH and CAWBOURNE MILLY collided and lost ground. BRASCH was subject to a post race veterinary check as was BELFAST CHUKKA who appeared in some discomfort immediately after the race. BRASCH was found to have a sore wrist with a seven day stand down recommended. BELFAST CHUKKA recovered soon after the race and no stand down was imposed. |
Race 3 | President's Stakes - C0 - 545 | HIT THE LIP was very slow to jump. SECRET VENUS was tightened soon after the jump and settled towards the rear. APPRAISED ran wide into the first bend when in front losing ground. He recovered to be third at the end of the back straight but stopped badly to finish last. A post race veterinary check of APPRAISED revealed that the dog had tied up badly but no stand down was recommended. Co-trainer Andy McCook informed Stewards that this was the first time the dog had raced over a middle distance and would be confined to sprints in the future. His comments were noted. |
Race 4 | Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C1 - 310 | BLACK OZARK and TEPIRITA ACE were slow to jump. BARKING MAD ran outwards and contacted HOMEBUSH KALAMA soon after the start. HOMEBUSH KALAMA was then held up for clear room until the home turn when he ran on well for third. |
Race 5 | Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Stakes - C1 - 545 | SIDESHOW BOB ran inwards at the jump checking MISS OZARK, CROSSFIRE MAX and KNOW FUTURE. Into the first bend CROSSFIRE MAX ran outwards pushing MISS OZARK wide around that bend with both dogs losing ground. |
Race 6 | www.uptownart.co.nz - C2 - 310 | ROYAL CHARADE was tightened into the bend and dropped out to finish last with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. On the turn WHAT A MATE and SURFIN BIZAAR came together when well back. |
Race 7 | Green Island Barber Shop Stakes - C2 - 545 | BAKE BEAN BETTY ran inwards at the jump and contacted MIGHTY PROPHET for a stride. The favourite CASLEY was caught wide throughout and failed to make any impression finishing seventh. Trainer Malcolm Grant when questioned in regards to the improved performance of BRASSED OFF informed Stewards that the dog has a preference for the Forbury track and was able to jump well today which put it into the race. |
Race 8 | Roofing Solutions Ltd Sprint - C4 - 310 | BLACK MERCEDES came together with CREPE MYRTLE and LIFE WITH DEXTER in the back straight with all dogs losing ground. LIAM BALE ran inwards on to CREPE MYRTLE on the bend and lost momentum. On the home turn SOFA LOAFA ran outwards and collided with LIFE WITH DEXTER on the home turn with both runners losing ground. A post race veterinary check of LIAM BALE revealed a spiked foot with a seven day stand down recommended. |
Race 9 | St Kilda Veterinary Centre Stakes - C3 - 545 | ITS NOT EASY was last to emerge from the boxes running on well for third. PRETTY GIRL ran very wide on the first bend and settled at the rear. |
Race 10 | Keyosk Service Bar Stakes - C4/5 - 545 | KNOW TRUTH was last to jump. The favourite AWESOME BENDER settled well back but improved quickly to be handy on the home turn. He then ducked outwards for a stride in order to receive racing room and in doing so checked kennelmate FIFTH EDITION. Stewards confirmed after watching the replays from different angles that no muzzle contact had occured when AWESOME BENDER ducked outwards. |
Race 11 | Speedprint Shop Sprint - C3 - 310 | GOSS SAGE ran inwards and tightened ACHEW ACHEW into the bend with that runner checking outwards and into the path of SPEEDY LEESHELLE who fell. SOSAN, VAMPIRES SHADOW and EL KILDA were inconvenienced in this incident. SPEEDY LEESHELLE completed the race with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. Trainer Deane Stapleton was questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner TIGER HOODS. He stated that after its luckless effort at Addington on 22 July the dog was found to have a hip injury and that he was given a spell to recover. The dog had come back well after that spell and the kennel was confident of a big effort today. |
Race 12 | A F Johnston Electrical Sprint - C4 - 310 | BRUNO was last to leave the traps. |
Race 13 | Racing Again Tuesday 13th September Dash - C5 - 310 | HOMEBUSH REECE was last away. WHERES ROBYN ran wide into the bend and pushed an improving HOMEBUSH REECE wider with both dogs losing ground. |
