Brightest Stars Missing from Galaxy

For months Greyhound fans have been counting down to clash between two of the country's fastest dogs in the $30,000 Galaxy Final at Addington.

But when Friday's Heats were posted the two names were missing; no Bolty and no Zipping Houdini.

Bolty had been in truly amazing form, breaking and then matching the 295m track record at Addington.  Trainer Daniel Lane explains his absence, "He's just a bit sore across his back so we're taking no chances with him."

Any chance of seeing him in a support race on Cup night?  "He might not be ready for that either, now that we've missed the Galaxy there is no point in bringing him back early - he'll show us when he is right" said Lane.

The outlook for Calum Weir, trainer of the excitement-machine Zipping Houdini, was much worse with the star speedster suffering a fracture after the post at his last start on October 15.

Weir texted GRNZ, "I wish he was going to be there but he is out for at least 3 to 4 months, the vets are hopeful that he can come back."

Ironically with their kennelmates out the Lane trained Seve and Weir trained Select Trick head the TAB's Futures market on the Galaxy at $5 and $6 respectively.  CD superstar Trojan Hoarse is also at $6 followed by Ever Rested at $14, Buddy Boom and Tricky at $14, with Big Time Jonie and Canya Oscar on the next line at $16.

Eight Heats for the Galaxy will be run at Addington on Friday, with four semi-finals next Wednesday ahead of the rich final on Thursday 12 November.
