UPDATE: Work and Income Wage Subsidy Form Issues

Hi everyone,

We have been in touch with Work and Income regarding our LP’s struggling to apply for wage subsidy payments. I have quoted the following process communicated by their staff representative, please see below:

1. Apply via the self-employed application here; https://services.workandincome.govt.nz/ess/trader_applications/new no matter how your business is structured.

2. Fill out the form with as much information as you can, including your personal IRD number, you can skip the New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) box, then submit your application.

3. Once submitted, if there are any issues, Work and Income will get in contact with you asking for more information.

4. It is at this point (when Work and Income contacts you) that you indicate/explain that you survive off stake money as income which is not taxable.

The expected timeframe is 5 working days for your application to be processed and to be paid out to your nominated bank account. If it has been more than a week, please contact Work and Income on 0800 40 80 40
