‘Bigtime’ NZRS Final on Monday

It’s looming as a ‘Bigtime’ occasion for the Lisa Cole kennels with the Palmerston North trainer providing nine of the ten listed greyhounds for the $8,400 NZRS Graduation finals after two 457m heats held last Monday decided the final field for this Monday’s decider.

Recording the quickest of the heat times was Bigtime Eve who completed her assignment in a tidy 26.18s. Amazingly this noted railer has drawn the eight trap for her fifth consecutive race. Obviously the practice that this daughter of Magic Sprite and Hello Ello is helping her as she has stylishly won her last two races by getting herself straight onto the early pace. She must do exactly that in this final.

Bigtime Rise was the other heat winner with this daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Darlyne Ottey completing her task in 26.50s. She does own a best Manawatu 457m time of 26.12s. She achieved her heat win from the ace trap and she moves out one trap for this event.

Bigtime Mia chased home Bigtime Eve when winding up 5.75 lengths behind her. The daughter of Spring Gun and Bigtime Karen gamely chased after her kennelmate all the way. She will be paraded to the 457m traps wearing the blue racing vest here.

The heat runner up to Bigtime Rise was Bigtime Talker who after racing handy to the pace pressed on stoutly for her three quarter length second. This daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Allegro Star hasn’t been provided with any favours after being allocated the five trap to be loaded away into.

Allegro Beaty has compiled a tidy record from trap one, which this daughter of Collision and Allegro Star will seek to further enhance from that trap on Monday. She led the initial rush from the traps in her heat, then she gamely stuck on when finishing 2.25 lengths behind Bigtime Rise in third.

It was a bit of a paw wrestle for the second placing in the heat won by Bigtime Eve, which saw Bigtime George losing that battle to Bigtime Mia by the barest possible margin after this son of Kilty Lad and Romberg Lass had settled just in behind the early pace. He jumped from the three trap then and he will be hopping away from the same trap on Monday.

Bigtime Jay Jay has been a competitive chaser around this big sweeping circuit. He was nosed out of third placing in his heat by Allegro Beaty after he had dueled with that chaser when rounding the bend here. You can watch this son of Collision and Darlyne Ottey racing in the green vest in this final.

Completing the drawn field is the northern Hayley Mullane prepared Noah Who, who certainly won’t be intimidated by being the only “outside” greyhound to contest this event. This son of Piggy Back and Who Bobby settled in the midfield pack before pressing on stoutly for his heat fourth, a tick under six lengths astern of Bigtime Eve. He will be exiting from trap seven here, which he won from the only previous time he jumped from that trap.

It’s back to the Cole kennels for the reserves bench with Frappucino occupying the first possie there. This son of Magic Sprite and Bigtime Latte has been sliding back down the grades lately. He is a much better chaser than what his current form line indicates. A similar comment can made for the second reserve Bigtime Monty. This son of Elite State and Real Clever made an early mistake when he was a tad slow when exiting from them in his heat.
