Christchurch GRC - 26th January 2024

1). Stewards followed up the recovery of HOMEBUSH NASH with trainer J McInerney Jnr after it raced below market expectation. Mr McInerney Jnr explained that in his opinion it was a false favorite and that coupled with its draw and slight interference he wasn't disappointed with its effort. Mr McInerney Jnr further advised the greyhound had pulled up well with no ill effects apparent.

2). Stewards followed up the results of x-rays undertaken on GOLDSTAR BENJI from this meeting in which it was reported that no fracture was present however it had sustained medial ligament damage with the greyhound undergoing surgery and rehabilitation in GRNZ's RTR program.

Race 3	Happy Birthday Graham (Sparky) Von Tongeran Sprint - C1 - 295	HOMEBUSH CHILLI (2) - fell to the track entering the bend. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. Stood down for the mandatory 5 days as per GRNZ Rule LR41(A). SAUL GOODMAN (3) - referred to the Veterinarian after appearing lame upon retrieval from the lure where it was reported to have a right hock strain with a 28-day incapacitation issued and a direction to have the greyhound x-rayed to rule out any possible fracture with these to be reported to Stewards. FIGURED IT OUT (6) - referred to the Veterinarian after sustaining a check entering the bend and cleared of injury.
Race 4	Happy Birthday Mark Gallagher Stakes - C1 - 520	OPAWA TURN (1) - turned its head outwards/inwards towards KATY DID IT through the initial stages making muzzle/head contact several times with this runner. Stood down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trial as per GRNZ Rule 123 & 127 (a)
Race 5	Clarkson Sign Studio Stakes Final - C1f - 520	GOLDSTAR OPAL(7) - was a late scratching at kenneling after presenting with right hind fibula pain.
Race 6	Balcairn Stock Foods & Pet Supplies Ltd Heat 1 - C1q - 295 Heat 1	HOMEBUSH OLIVIA(8) - was a late scratching after sustaining a laceration to its left thigh prior to being transported to the course.
Race 7	Balcairn Stock Foods & Pet Supplies Ltd Heat 2 - C1q - 295 Heat 2	This race was delayed due to remedial work required on the track to remove excess water. HOMEBUSH JAXON (2) - referred to the Veterinarian after falling at the lure and cleared of injury.
Race 8	Balcairn Stock Foods & Pet Supplies Ltd Heat 3 - C1q - 295 Heat 3	HOMEBUSH CLASSY (1) - referred to the Veterinarian after continuing to underperform where it was reported to have a sprained right hock with a 14 -day incapacitation issued.
Race 9	Balcairn Stock Foods & Pet Supplies Ltd Heat 4 - C1q - 295 Heat 4	The all clear was delayed until Stewards were afforded the opportunity to review the start after the boxes towards the inside inappreciably moved upwards as the green light was activated. After viewing the films and taking into account the time from when the green light was activated to when the start was effected Stewards could not be satisfied that any greyhound had been prevented from participating on equal terms with other starters in the event and the all clear was given.
