Judicial report: Weather: Overcast and cool An inquiry was opened and adjourned under Rule 69.11 against trainer MM GRANT and his dog WINSOME CYCLONE, a starter in Race 5 who weighed in 1.6kgs above his last race start weight.

Race 1 ADVANCE PET NUTRITION DASH - C1/2 - 295 LIAM TITLE was slow to jump. LUCY'S MINT drifted to the rear in the run to the bend. Around the bend OHOKA DUKE and WILLY'S PRIDE were checked by WORLD WARNING and KNOW FLIRT as these two dogs drove to the lead.
Race 2 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP SPRINT - C4 - 295 WILLY ECHO and TONY BAXTER were checked into the bend losing ground. Both ran on well.
Race 3 KATZ' N K9Z SPRINT - C3 - 295 GEMSTONE RUSTY and STRAIGHT OFF drifted to the rear. STRAIGHT OFF improved between dogs into the bend tightening BETTY BEATZER, both losing ground with resultant checks to GEMSTONE RUSTY and GENISTA BRAVE who was forced wide.
Race 4 DUVAUCHELLE HOTEL STAKES - C2/3 - 520 CRAFTY CLEEVE ran outwards soon after the start colliding with COSTA BRAVO both settling near the rear.
Race 5 BORAT AT STUD STAKES - C4 - 520 SALLY BAXTER was turned sideways by FRENCH INVADER as they came together into the first bend. She drifted out to finish a long last. A post race veterinary examination revealed a fractured left hind 3rd metatarsal bone with a 28 day stand down recommended. WINSOME BLITZ (SR Fagan) left fore dew claw injury. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 28 April 2009. LAGER IN PARIS (MM Grant) stood down at Christchurch meeting on 21 April 2009. Rule 80.1.a. 28 days up to and including 18 May 2009. SALLY BAXTER (JT McInerney) fractured left hind 3rd metatarsal bone. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 21 May 2009.
Race 6 GARY DENOVAN MEMORIAL CUP - C3 - 520 HARBOUR BALE was tightened between dogs into the first bend coming back on CAWBOURNE WILKO. JODIE BALE ran wide around the bend and into the back straight losing ground. CAWBOURNE WOODY (DL Roberts) was a late scratching at kennelling with a left hind split webbing. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 10 days up to and including 3 May 2009.
Race 7 ELVIN HIBBS MEMORIAL - C5 - 295 WATCH THE JET crossed the field to the rail badly checking GRANT A FORTUNE and BILLY RUBIN. Soon after TONY KNOWS checked off the heels of ANOTHER MANGLES. Soon after ANOTHER MANGLES struck the rear of GRANT A FORTUNE. Both GRANT A FORTUNE and BUILLY RUBIN were subject to veterinary checks which revealed RONRAY DISCO (R Adcock) stood down at Christchurch on 21 April 2009. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 4 May 2009. BOB BAXTER (JT McInerney) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 28 April 2009.
Race 8 STABLEMATE NEW ZEALAND OAKS FINAL - R/Af - 520 KNOW BEST was checked between dogs into the first bend and was checked again as POISED ran outwards around the bend.
Race 9 G.A.P STAKES - C5 - 520 SMASH MCCOY checked out off WANDY HAKA into the first bend forcing WINSOME BUCKS and BRITNEY LANE over extra ground. SMASH PALACE (MM Grant) right hind caudal thigh graze and bruising. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 28 April 2009. ST.WILD (DL Roberts) left hind proximal tibia soreness. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 28 April 2009.
Race 10 SUPERPETS SPRINT - C4/5 - 295 GENISTA DREAMA, JILL BAXTER and KARL BAXTER were tightened by dogs on their outer into the bend losing all chance. GENISTA ASSASSIN (JE Dunn) left hind calf muscle strain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 29 April 2009.
