Judicial report: Weather: Fine and sunny An inquiry was opened and adjourned into the scratching of WINSOME LIGHT (DD Schofield) under Rules 64.3, 63.5 and 63.10.
The inquiry into the scratchings of dogs trained by AC ROBERTS from the Southland GRC meeting on 3 November 2008 was reconvened. After hearing the details of the breakdown of his van near Hinds and taking into account the time needed to arrange another vehicle to travel south and the travelling time required, it was accepted that the trainer and his dogs would not have arrived on course in sufficient time to compete. Inquiries with the repairers confirmed the extent of repairs needed to the vehicle. Accordingly the explanation supplied was accepted as a valid reason for the scratchings in terms of Rule 64.2, with no further action needed and no stand downs applied in terms of Rule 64.5.

Race 1	ADVANCE PERFORMANCE DASH - C5 - 295	Into the bend TRENDY MOMENT was tightened by DUWANNA HAND. Around the bend JILL BAXTER moved out and checked HAILSTONE HERB who in turn went back on MR FUGLES who was pushed back losing all chance.
Race 2	CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP SPRINT - C3 - 295	KNOW LOVE was very slow to jump losing ground. Into the bend KNOW DESIRE moved out forcing ANOTHER MANGLES into the path of TURBO PRINCE who went back and checked BIONIC DREAM who lost all chance. THRILLING RILEY was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed a left hind toe sprain with a 10 day stand down recommended. THRILLING RILEY (D Kingston). Left hind toe sprain. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 22 November 2008.
Race 3	SPEIGHTS SIX PACK - C4 - 520	NITRO MARTA was slow to leave the boxes. Into the first bend COASTERZAM was checked when racing between ENDURO SKYE and SCOTEXCITED. In going back COASTERZAM clipped the heels of SCOTEXCITED and stumbled in the path of MISS KOONAWARRA who fell heavily. COASTERZAM and MISS KOONAWARRA were subject to post race veterinary checks which revealed MISS KOONAWARRA with a fractured right elbow with a 28 day stand down recommended. Nothing was found amiss with COASTERZAM. MISS KOONAWARRA (J&D Fahey). Fractured right elbow. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 10 December 2008. SMART THOMAS (LJ Waretini) undertook a reserve trial and sustained a left gracilus tear. Rule 82.1. 21 days up to and including 3 December 2008.
Race 4	SUPER PETS SPRINT - C4 - 295	All clear.
Race 5	CAROL'S TAB'S BITCHES CLASSIQUE - R/A - 520	Soon after the jump KNOW BEST ran out as BANKSIDE LASS improved across from the outside and as a result NITRO VIXEN, CHILE TART and IRON MAIDEN were tightened for racing room. A few strides later DIAMOND MILL and NITRO VIXEN came together. Around the bend HEAR THE CHEERS moved out and collided with BANKSIDE LASS. Into the final bend CHILE TART checked off IRON MAIDEN when attempting to improve from well back.
Race 6	DAVID EMERSON CONSULTANCY CLASSIC - R/A - 520	FLYING ASPEN was slow to jump Into the first bend CONTINUE improved across from the outside as CURVE BALL moved out with checks to WINSOME FLYER and KNOW HELP. A stride later KNOW HELP and CONTINUE came together again losing all chance.
Race 7	2008 FIRST SOVEREIGN TRUST GALAXY FINAL - C5f - 295	CALL ME was slow to jump. Soon after the start GRANT A FORTUNE moved out and squeezed IN COMMAND and WATCH THE JET which allowed BLACK TIE to rail through and win. Around the bend IN COMMAND checked off heels and forced WATCH THE JET wider on the track. Into the home straight GRANT A FORTUNE moved out and tightened TONY KNOWS and bumped PIZZA GIRL wide on the track. CAWBOURNE JAMES (AC Roberts). Right wrist sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 21 days up to and including 2 December 2008. WINSOME LIGHT (DD Schofield) withdrawn under Rule 63.10 and 64.3. Inquiry opened and adjourned. GO NOW (SP Clark) withdrawn under Rule 63.10. No penalty.
Race 8	GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING STAKES - C5 - 520	AUSSIE OPAWA was slow to jump and LOCHINVAR VUITON was also back. Into the bend FANTA CLAWS moved toward the rail and in doing so tightened WANDY HAKA and CAPTAIN BRUCE on the inside. A stride later ROMAN HOME was checked when racing between TURBINE BALE and LOCHINVAR VUITON going back on AUSSIE OPAWA. Around the bend AUSSIE OPAWA and ROMAN HOME came together when racing at the rear of the field. MCCRACKEN (J&D Fahey). Left gracilus sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 22 November 2008.
Race 9	2008 CHALLENGE SERVICE STATION'S NEW ZEALAND CUP - C5f - 520	Into the bend CRAFTY FLYNN tightened RIDDLE MAN. A stride later COSMIC ZEUS moved off the rail and checked RIDDLE MAN, CRAFTY FLYNN and SOLEMN PROMISE. Soon after ATLANTIC BALE crossed WINSOME BUCKS. Across the top CRAFTY FLYNN checked off heels and changed ground when racing back in the field.
Race 10	BILL'S BAR & BISTRO STAKES - C5 - 520	IN TOM'S MEMORY and FIFI THE GENIUS came together into the first bend with FIFI THE GENIUS stumbling and almost falling, losing all chance as a result. COSTA BRAVO (AC Roberts) withdrawn due to NZGRA error. The dog was drawn into a c5 field when he had downgraded to c4. No penalty.
Race 11	2008 CONTAINERMAN SOCKBURN CUP - C2d - 732	All clear.
Race 12	CHALLENGE WAIMAK DASH - C5 - 295	Into the bend SIR KRETION was tightened on the rail by BAXTER'S GENERAL and went back checking KNOW GOOD and KARL BAXTER. ANOTHER GALE (JT McInerney) left hind 4th toe laceration. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 22 November 2008.
