Judicial report: Weather: Fine Handler JT McInerney Jnr was warned in regards to the late kennelling of a number of his dogs.
Trainer JE Dunn was late for kennelling after a hold up on the way from Hokitika. His explanation was accepted.

Race 1 | ADVANCE PERFORMANCE SPRINT - C5 - 295 | HOMEBUSH BUZZ was last to jump and remained last throughout. HOMEBUSH FITZY received a slight check into the bend but recovered well to finish second. Following the race a veterinary check on SLAVE DRIVER revealed split webbing on its right hind paw with a fourteen day stand down recommended. SLAVE DRIVER (LJ Waretini) split webbing right hind paw. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 21 February 2007. |
Race 2 | EUREKA TRUST DASH - C2 - 295 | HEEZ BACK IN ran very wide around the bend losing its chance and finishing last. Hot favourite ZENSU was a fraction slow to jump but accelerated brilliantly to grab the lead around the bend and win in convincing fashion. HOMEBUSH JESSIE (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at 2.00pm with diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 14 February 2007. |
Race 3 | CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C4 - 520 | MIDNIGHT FLUTTER ran outwards into the first bend causing checks to HOMEBUSH THORN and BURN THE PEG. All of these dogs lost ground and finished well back. BURN THE PEG was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed a spike wound to the left hind webbing with a six day stand down recommended. COOL PILGRIM (MM Grant) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Race 4 | BARRONS SUPPLIES STAKES - C2/3 - 520 | BENNY BAXTER was slow to jump and then was checked twice by LIGHT POCKETS when attempting to improve. He made ground late for sixth. BARDO'S ANGEL (MP Stewart) torn right front dew claw. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 16 February 2007. PARADISE ECHO (JM Jopson) starter in NZ Oaks. |
Race 5 | ROBBIES BAR & BISTRO STAKES - C2/3 - 520 | WHATA DUDE was slow settling last. Into the first bend TRENDY OPAWA, HEZA BOOF and WHATA DUDE tangled losing momentum. They finished well back. WHATA DUDE was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed a skin laceration over its inside left hind toe joint that required sutures with a seven day stand down recommended. HOMEBUSH FALCON (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at 2.00pm with diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 12 February 2007. WHATA DUDE (WJ Cairns) skin laceration over inside left hind toe. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 14 February 2007. |
Race 6 | TRACKSIDE DINING 22/2 PH 338-6145 DASH - C3 - 295 | Favourite TO CASUAL was slow to jump losing about five lengths. He put up a huge effort to get up for third. PAINT THE STARS and THAT VIRUS tangled into the bend pushing HOMEBUSH JADE wide. PAINT THE STARS ran on nicely for second with the other two dogs remaining midfield. YENDY'S TITLE faltered before the bend dropping out to a long last. A post race veterinary check revealed a torn right gracilus with a twenty eight day stand down recommended. YENDY'S TITLE (LJ Waretini) torn right gracilus. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 7 March 2007. |
Race 7 | CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP STAKES - C5 - 520 | The two favourites EMULATE and WINSOME BLITZ were both checked early in the race dropping to the rear. EMULATE remained well back with WINSOME BLITZ making up good ground for third. On the first bend GOOD GRACIOUS ME and KAKAMA came together resulting in these dogs and WINSOME BLITZ losing ground. |
Race 8 | 2007 EUREKA TRUST NEW ZEALAND OAKS - R/Af - 520 | OPAWA VANE and HOMEBUSH BUBBLES tangled early in the race losing ground and their chances. Favourite WINSOME DAISY was away fairly but charged to the lead prior to the back straight and recorded an impressive victory. OPAWA STATE (J&D Fahey) right hind matatarsal soreness. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 13 February 2007. |
Race 9 | SISTER CITY PUNTERS COMP PH 03 3386145 DASH - C4 - 295 | TITANIC ran outwards on the first bend pushing WHATA DARLING wide on the track. In a domino effect HOMEBUSH WHO was also shunted wide with the outside runners BAXTER SUE and NGAWI BAY tangling. These two dogs lost their chance as they were pushed so wide they were on the grass verges of the track. A post race veterinary check on NGAWI BAY revealed no injury. |
Race 10 | BACK HERE TUESDAY SPRINT - C5 - 295 | HYPO ROKOCOKO missed the jump badly and settled last. He passed a couple in the run home. |
