Stipendiary Stewards Report

Waikato Greyhound Racing Club

Cambridge Raceway ON FRIDAY 06 Jan 2006

Weather:
Track: Good Good
Scales: A 0.05kg (over) electronic scale fault was deducted from all recorded weights.
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Weather: Fine Further discussion took place with the relevant Race day Officials and L. Henley, Club Secretary, in relation to the automatic triggering malfunction of the 375 mtr starting boxes resulting in manual starts for all races / distances, timing malfunction in Race 9 (457 mtrs) and a minimal weighing fault (0.05kg) on the scales which was deducted from all greyhound individual weights to ensure an accurate reading. These matters are of extreme concern to the Stewards and have been receiving recent attention from the Club and their maintenance team in an endeavour to rectify what appear to be intermittent problems which could be far more complex than initially thought and will require further urgent and more in-depth investigation.
*************
Race 1. Trainer N.P.Green (I'm Wishing) lodged a verbal complaint with the Starter in relation to the Lure Distance in front of the leading greyhound (I'm Wishing) in the home straight. In Mr Green's opinion the lure was not within the 5 to 8 mtr range as required under Rule 75. The Lure Driver had already reported a power surge to the lure in the home straight. This was reviewed in consultation with the Lure Driver and the Stewards were satisfied that no greyhound had been substantially inconvenienced in the running so as to affect the outcome of the race.
*************
A number of Handlers were spoken to advisedly about the requirements of Rule 66.4 (Unauthorised Person not to Handle Greyhounds).
*************
The Stewards are to review the 'Notification to Handlers' method for allotted greyhound swabbing times at this track (currently verbal) in consultation with the Club, in order to streamline these procedures.
