Judicial report: Weather: Fine Trainers are reminded that ALL strapping / bandaging whether it is existing or new must be advised or requested by the handler at the time of kennelling for approval and record purposes and / or endorsement on the greyhound's registration papers. Once the endorsement has been made the strapping / bandaging can only be removed for racing upon application to the Stipendiary Steward who will then cancel the endorsement on the registration papers.

Following Race 7, trainer D.Fahey, expressed concern that one of the airconditioning units in the security kennel block appeared to be only working periodically. The matter was referred to the Club Secretary.

Race 6. G.A.Cleeve the trainer of Orphan Assassin was advised that one further reassessment of this greyhound's boxing manners would be undertaken at it's next race start with a view to cancelling the current 'Hard to Box' categorisation which has existed since 02.11.04.

Race 1 FRIDAY FLASH STAKES - C1 - 457 Maxi The Taxi and Achieve A Dream came together after the start with the latter drifting soon after and finishing at the rear. Whata Plan was tightened and severely checked on the first turn, then as a result clipped the heels of and checked the favourite Maxi The Taxi. This runner was ordered to undergo a post race Veterinary examination which revealed an injury requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. Homebush Moody cut across the heels of Homebush Luke on the home turn and lost a length. Maxi The Taxi ( B & L Craik). Torn pad off-side hind. Rule 329. 10 days up to and including 19.03.05.
Race 2 MITRE 10 CAMBRIDGE STAKES - C2 - 457 Kiwi Assassin was slow to begin. Gungullin ran inwards after the start checking Ladylike Token, Tiger Time and Fantasy Fair. Chestnut Bale and Kiwi Assassin jostled on the first turn with Chestnut Bale being severely checked and then coming back onto Tiger Time which also suffered a severe check and almost fell.
Race 3 STEWART & CAVALIER LTD CLASSIC - R/A - 457 Krackem was scratched due to a blood disorder. This race started 2 minutes late due to a false start in the preceding harness race. Fancy Style, Classic Flyer and Aston Superstar bumped each other twice prior to the first turn. Thrilling Duke was forced wide on the bend. Krackem ( D.van Meeuwen ). Blood disorder. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 18.03.05.
Race 4 GENERAL ENGRAVERS 2003 LTD STAKES - C2 - 457 Kerchak and Wolf Girl Jess were scratched due to injury. This race started 1 minute late due to a request from TAB Trackside. Four Square reared as the boxes opened and lost 4 lengths then made up ground well to finish 6th. Light Pockets the favourite was well back early, weaved his way through the field and ran on too strongly to win convincingly. Light Pockets and Four Square jostled nearing the first turn. Kerchak ( J.T.Mc Inerney ). Swollen and infected front foot. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19.03.05. Wolf Girl Jess ( G.A.Lawrence ). Laceration to hind toe pad. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 18.03.05.
Race 5 PHIL DORR LTD WAIKATO DISTANCE - C2d - 747 Phil Dorr Ltd Waikato Distance - ( $6,875 ) 747 Mtrs. Whata Charm was scratched due to injury. Blue Fern and Zippy Star were slow to begin with Zippy Star then reaching the lead entering the back straight and maintaining a strong run to win well. Shining Comet ran wide on the first turn and made up ground well for 3rd. Bonnie Creek and Rivette Reason collided on the first bend with both runners suffering checks and were always at the rear thereafter. Whata Charm ( J & D Fahey ). Off- side hind muscle injury. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 17.03.05.
Race 6 PATHWAYS TO NZ CLASSIC - R/A - 457 Jupiter Jazz was a late scratching due to injury. Orphan Assassin was boxed first due to a current 'Hard to Box' categorisation and was observed and reported to box without difficulty. There was general tightening after the start with all runners being hampered except for Stabila Boss ( winner ) and Hostile Arch ( 4th ). Jupiter Jazz (J & D Fahey ). Late scratching. Torn near -side deltoid muscle. Vet certificate supplied. 10 days up to and including 19.03.05.
Race 7 NZ DERBY - FINAL - R/Af - 457 The NZ Derby Final - Group 1 ( $30,000 ) 457 Mtrs. Special Fancy ( favourite ) was boxed first due to approval being given for a 'Hard to Box' categorisation following the greyhound's boxing manners at the Waikato and Districts GRC race meeting held on 04.03.05. This greyhound was also observed and reported to be difficult to box in this race. Mallee Jack reared as the boxes opened, missed the start by 4 lengths and was never in contention thereafter. Chopper's Hand ran inwards after the start and inconvenienced Nasty Streak and Willy What. Shady's Mate led early then was tightened slightly on the first turn and failed to recover. Willy What ( winner ) was denied racing room behind Mr Blackout on the bend and home turn and finished resolutely when clear to gain a last stride victory.
Race 8 RACING MINISTERS SPRINT - C5 - 375 Dalhunty Bale was slow to begin then remained wide throughout finishing 5th. Blue Paragon ran inwards after the start hampering Homebush Brian. Special Effects ran outwards on the bend checking Blue Paragon.
Race 9 LOWE SCHOLLUM & JONES LTD STAKES - C3 - 457 There was no 'head on' video coverage of this race available from TAB Trackside due to a camera fault. Mr Bell was boxed first due to a current 'Hard to Box' categorisation and was observed to be boxed without difficulty. Mr Card was tightened and checked on the first turn, lost 3 lengths as a result and never recovered finishing last.
Race 10 VEHICLE SERVICES STAKES - C3/4 - 457 There was no 'head on' video coverage of this race available from TAB Trackside. Cheap Wine and He's Hypo drifted shortly after the start and never improved finishing 7th and 8th. All runners with the exception of Cheap Wine and He's Hypo raced in tight quarters on the first turn.
