Race 1	ALBION TAVERN DASH - C1 - 297	BOLD GYPSY, PIXAR STAR and GO MOJO were all checked on the first corner with PIXAR STAR almost falling. All three lost any chance of a placing as a result of the incident. TURBO JAZZ . Trainer R&L.Bell. Rule 259. Suffering from a sprained ligament. Stand down 10 days to 11.10.03. BOHEMIAN WAY. Trainer T.Noomara. Rule 259. Suffering from a claw injury. Presented and stood down for 7 days to 08.10.03.
Race 2	OXFORD HOTEL STAKES - C1 - 505	TURBO JAZZ was scratched due to a sprained ligament. BOHEMIAN WAY was scratched due to a claw injury. VAL'S BABE was slow to begin, settled well back and finished in second to last placing. KOJAZZ was handy for most of the race but tired in the straight and dropped out to finish sixth. One of the favourites RAGTIME REASON appeared unhappy negotiating the tight bends and dropped out to finish in last place.
Race 3	APPLEJACK BOY MEMORIAL - C2q - 505 Heat 1	CONWAY BALE was pushed out very wide on the first bend but kept up a strong run to go on and win nicely. One of the favourites UPAHUT ROSE was checked on the first bend, lost momentum and went back a couple of places. He then clipped the heels of WON'T BE DENIED when entering the back straight, lost further ground and that was the end of his chance of a placing.
Race 4	APPLEJACK BOY MEMORIAL - C2q - 505 Heat 1	CIVIC KNIGHT was scratched ex Wellington on 30.09.03. REBEL IZMIR was slow away and then ran very wide on the first bend and eventually finished well back. CIVIC KNIGHT. Trainer D.Garrett. Ex Wellington on 30.09.03.
Race 5	STEVE McGILL VET STAKES - C1 - 505	MONTOYA FOG was checked soon after the start and lost several lengths. She then then covered extra ground when racing wide on the final bend but finished well for third place. HOLLY PHOENIX was bumped on the first bend, moved out and pushed SOFA LOAFER and LADY SHACKLES wide on the track. IMMORTAL EYES and LIECA WING fell after the winning post but were uninjured.
Race 6	NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP FLAT FINAL - C5 - 505	SAMMY NAVIGATOR and WINSOME VEIN were slow away and settled well back. The favourite HOT TREASURE jumped well, was soon in front and won with ease.
Race 7	ALEX McKAY SPRINT - C2 - 297	KAITOKE SUE was scratched due to a muscle strain. FIGO was scratched due to a seasonal complaint. The race was all clear. KAITOKE SUE. Trainer C.Harris. Rule 259. Suffering from monkey muscle injury. Stand down for 21 days to 21.10.03. FIGO. Trainer M.McDonnell. Rule 258 (3). In season. Stand down 30 days to 01.11.03.
Race 8	AWAPUNI LIQUORLAND - C4/5 - 505	ALLEGRO MAGIC was scratched due to a metatarsal injury. The race was all clear. ALLEGRO MAGIC. Trainer B.Cole. Rule 259. Suffering from a metatarsal injury. Presented and stood down for 7 days to 08.10.03.
Race 9	WANGANUI CAR CENTRE STAKES - C3 - 505	EDGAR JAY was scratched due to a leg injury. The favourite SHE SHEPHERD was checked on the first bend and ran out. She recovered quickly and ran on too well for the opposition and won well. EDGAR JAY. Trainer N.Cobain. Rule 259. Suffering from a hind leg injury. Stand down 10 days to 11.10.03.
Race 10	BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS DASH - C3/4 - 297	WAIWERATAI and ULTRA AWESOME, who drew boxes one and two, were tightened as outside runners moved across in the race to the first corner and they settled well back and failed to make up much ground.
