Race 1 ALAN TAYLOR BUILDERS DASH - C2 - 318 Le Mans Song took an early lead and held well from there. There was significant bunching after the jump, with Bally Angel being checked from behind and drifting to the rear, finishing there. Zabebz moved out and impacted with the rear of Time Payment, Time Payment then struck the back of Oh My Gosh - both those dogs having to scramble several paces to regain momentum, and having their chances adversely affected. Race 2 FOX SYNDICATE STAKES - C2 - 527 Burali Bale and Kerchak put a break on the field down the back straight and entered the final bend neck to neck - Kerchak drew clear mid-straight but only for a few paces as Burali Bale came back strongly and took the win.
Race 3 CLARKIE'S SYNDICATE STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Argus Lee put a break on the field early, extended it down the back straight and carried it to the line. No 2 Twilight Lane ( F Farmer). Rule 259. Stand down 30 days to 22.08.03.
Race 4 NZ STEEL GALVINISERS DASH - C2/3 - 318 Seven starters. Nigella Bale showed early speed but was soon overtaken by Yeap as he took control and held on to win.Bahma Bale checked off the back of Lady Dolly in the early stages - Lady Dolly then drifted to the rear and made no further progress from there. No 1 Stop The Broker ( B & L Craik). Under stand down from AGRC meeting. No 4 Speed Signal ( M Earley). Rule 259. Swollen hock. Stand down 10 days to 02.08.03. Vet certificate held. No 9 Turf Muncher ( B & L Craik). Gained start in race 7.
Race 5 RED FOX TAVERN STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Ryan's Son ran swiftly from the inside box to take an early lead then sped down the back straight and put an extended break on the field - for her part, Griswold , after shoulder to shoulder contact with Wolf Girl Jess, ranged wide around the field, (which had bunched after Kedo's Ned crossed from the outside box and made contact with Stylish Zoe) and at the end of the bend into the final straight Griswold gathered in the pacemaker Ryan's Son and ran away for a decisive win.
Race 6 NETWORK PLUS DISTANCE - C1d - 603 Seven starters.Black Echo started best and had the field strung out in indian file as she moved down the back straight before holding to the line. No 1 Summer Buzz ( G N Pomeroy). Rule 259. injured front leg. Stand down 10 days to 04.08.03. Vet certificate held. No 6 Looney Doll ( H R & L D Scott). Withdrawn with valid reason. No 9 Sporty Mate ( M & J Jopson). Under stand down from Addington.
Race 7 PUNTERS BAR TAIRUA DASH - C3/4 - 318 Cecilia Tony was slow to start, settled last then made some ground to midfield, but again drifted and finished back. After being in shoulder contact with Pure Honcho after the jump, Bacon Lady skewed sideways and had to scramble to regain footing - then again a short distance further on the same two dogs came into contact again. Neither featured in the finish. No 3 Rawhiti Lad ( G C Farrell). Under stand down from AGRC meeting.
Race 8 DANNY O'KEEFFE HURDLES - C1/2h - 527 Hurdles race. Gone Troppo led from the first hurdle and coupled an impressive display of hurdling with a track record. All dogs completed the course. No falls.
Race 9 WHALE'S WHISPER SYNDICATE STAKES - C4 - 527 Roses Groover was adversely affected when jostled from behind when dogs bunched tightly at the first bend. No 7 Black Honda ( F Farmer). Rule 259. Stand down 30 days to 22.08.03.
Race 10 BELLBIRD ARMS DASH - C5 - 318 Late scratching of Rinaldi Aston reduced field to seven starters. Race clear. No 5 Bradancas ( P & L Henley). Rule 259. Strained right carpus. Stand down 10 days to 03.08.03. Vet certificate held. LATE SCRATCHING No 9 Rinaldi Aston ( J T McInerney). Rule 259. Diarrhoea. Stand down 7 days to 02.08.03. Dog presented.Vet certificate held.
Race 11 WATERLOO CUP - FINAL - C5f - 527 The feature race for the meeting, the Group 1 Waterloo Cup. Daphne Bale sped from the inside box and led field past the winning post on the first round - then down the back straight until being headed for several strides by Egyptian Gold. Daphne Bale quickly reversed that order and led from there to the line. Pilli Appeal, having settled towards the rear after the jump when seeking to improve had to loop around the field at the bottom of the back straight - then launched a strong late run but had conceded the leaders too much ground and had to settle for third. Poco King and Tommo's Two were in contact after the jump, then again as they ran to the first bend - Poco King being turned sideways briefly but straightened quickly to continue on.
Race 12 STAR TAVERN KIHIKIHI STAKES - C5 - 527 Late scratching of Simply Red reduced field to seven starters.Quiet Puzzle took an early lead before Taiho Tiger moved up a gear and put in a strong sustained run to the line.Some Joe settled back after a somewhat slow start then made a forward move along the rail before weaving through field to pursue the leader down the straight - Taiho Tiger did not yeild in holding for the win. No 6 Soulstorm ( P & L Henley). Rule 259.Strained muscle in left shoulder. Stand down 10 days to 03.08.03. Vet certificate held. LATE SCRATCHING No 8 Simply Red ( P & L Henley). Rule 259.Pain on left hind flexior. Stand down 4 days to 30.07.03. Dog presented. Vet certificate held.
