Palmerston North GRC - 8 October 2021

1) Following the communication breakdown with regards to OSCAR'S REALITY (race 1) not getting examined post-race the Stewards followed up with new trainer Mrs. S Gommans who advised that there were no obvious abnormalities.
2) Trainer M Flipp advised Stewards that NUTTY NUTS had not recovered following his race at this meeting and was showing signs of general muscle soreness necessitating his withdrawal from the Palmerston North GRC meeting on 11 October 2021.

Late Scratchings:

1) ALLEGRO KAIRO (L Cole) - Race 5.
2) Several Greyhounds trained in the Taranaki region were late scratchings due to a road closure south of Waverley. (Refer Stewards report for each race for details).

Scratchings.

1) All J McInerney runners were scratched today with permission granted by the stewards due to transport difficulties.

Injury Trials Required:

1) KING THEODEN (P Blanche).

Fines:
1) Trainer M Flipp was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant with Rule 47.1(c) when she failed to ensure the correct rug was placed on her runner OPAWA VIOLET (race 12 #9). A fine of $50 was imposed.

2) Kennel steward L Bell was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant with Rule 47.1(c) when she failed to ensure the correct rug was placed on OPAWA VIOLET (race 12 #9). A fine of $50 was imposed.

General:

1) Trainer M Olden was spoken to and reminded of her obligations when racing greyhounds under GRNZ's level 2 protocols.

This meeting was run under Level 2 Government restrictions and Greyhound Racing New Zealand Work Safe Covid-19 protocols.

Race 1	greyhoundtips.co.nz C0 - C0 - 410	Late scratching's due to a traffic holdup, BIG TIME HELENA (P Clark) and ODYSSEUS (Kettlewell/Phillips). CHECK ME OUT (1) - fav- began awkwardly for a stride and was hampered as BIG TIME AMERICA angled acrosss. BIG TIME AMERICA (2) - angled inwards from the jump hampering runner to her inner. JUMP ELLE (5) - slow away by several lengths. BLUE COD (7) - slow away by several lengths. was unable to get into contention thereafter. ALLEGRO QUEEN (9/6) - raced widest into the bend.
Race 2	Red Snapper Seafoods, Christchurch C0 - C0 - 457	BIG TIME SEATTLE (2) - racing handy when crowded for a few strides entering the home straight. THRILLING STELLA (4) - soon after the start she came together with JOAN JET then was contacted by ALLEGRO ROBBIE and pushed sideways for a couple of strides. She settled in the midfield and was unable to make ground thereafter. GOLDEN LOGGER (5) - contact in the hindquarters racing from the start . ALLEGRO ROBBIE (6) - brushed with MAD WORLD racing from the start. Soon after he contacted JOAN JET. MAD WORLD (7) - contact soon after the start when brushing with ALLEGRO ROBBIE .Angled outwards into the bend and raced wide thereafter covering a fair amount of extra ground in the running.
Race 3	TAB No Deposit Fees C1 - C1 - 457	BIGTIME MASON scratching has been retired. BIG TIME ADISON late scratching due to a traffic holdup. STAY CONNECTED (2) - checked racing from the start as COILED SPRING angled across his line. COILED SPRING (3) - angled across the line of STAY CONNECTED racing from the start. Soon after he was bumped jostled and tightened back losing ground. BIG TIME RYDER (6) - in the run towards the bend he angled out across heels and was tightened and clipped from behind and was tightened and jostled for some strides . IN THE CLINCH (7) - dictated across in the run towards the bend being tightened back onto the hind of BIG TIME RYDER and checked back to the rear. he ran out across heels into the bend. THRILLING GRAY (8) - angled across in the run towards the bend and was checked and bumped as IN THE CLINCH came out onto his shoulder and stumbled for a stride or so losing momentum and ground. He was unable to make ground thereafter and was referred to the vet and found to have general muscle pain with a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 4	Bigtime Paddy at Stud C1/C2 - C1/2 - 457	BIGTIME AVA late scratched due to a traffic holdup. THRILLING RISK (3) - ran onto heels and checked in the run across the top bend .Contacted in the hindquarters entering the home straight and unbalanced for a stride or so. ALLEGRO PIPPA (4) - angled out over heels entering the bend raced wide thereafter. BIG TIME DORY (8) - hampered for several strides when looking to clear heels and contacted the rail losing momentum .Referred to the vet and cleared of injury. BIG TIME CHERRY (9/6) - angled inwards entering the home straight contacting the hind of THRILLING RISK.
Race 5	Paul Claridge Electrical C3 - C3 - 457	ALLEGRO KAIRO was a late scratching and presented to the OTV. BIG TIME HARPER late scratched due to a traffic holdup. BROKE BRAD (6) - hampered racing from the start as BIG TIME REWARD angled across. Soon after he attempted to push outwards bumping and jostling with BIG TIME REWARD for some strides into the bend .Referred to the vet and found to have left thigh soreness with a 10 day stand down recommended. BIG TIME REWARD (7) - angled inwards from the jump into BROKE BRAD for a couple of strides. Soon after he was jostled for some distance as BROKE BAD came outwards attempting to race out wide being jostled for some strides. TUFF ADMIRAL (8) - raced wide towards the bend where he attempted to to angle inwards causing tightening to BIG TIME REWARD and and bumping with BROKE BRAD racing onto the top bend.
Race 6	Big Barrel Palmerston North C4/C5 - C4/5 - 457	DAPPER RAPPER (1) - contact into the bend as THRILLING BAXTER angled inwards. THRILLING BAXTER (5) - only fairly away from the jump. He angled into the bend coming together with DAPPER RAPPER for a stride or so. He settled back and was unable to make ground thereafter. Referred to the vet and cleared of injury.
Race 7	Creative Catering Reverse Criteria No. 1 C1 - C1 - 410	GOTCHA MAX (1) - began awkwardly almost going down on his nose .He recovered quickly into stride. He was racing handy when tightened and crowded onto heels in the run across the top bend losing momentum and ground. BIG TIME CHASE (3) - began very awkwardly and was last into stride by 5 lengths. He made ground thereafter to the line.
Race 8	J P Print Reverse Criteria No. 2 C1 - C1 - 410	BIG TIME NOAH late scratched due to a traffic holdup. TUFF DYNAMO (1) - went up as the lids lifted. ALAMEIN BEAUDEN (3) - improved to the lead into the bend. Angled inwards into the home straight bumping and jostling with CRISPY CHICKEN for a few strides. CRISPY CHICKEN (4) - slow away. Improved up along the inner of ALAMEIN BEAUDEN turning into the home straight and bumped and jostled with this runner for a few strides. HIGHVIEW SPUD (7) - slow away. making ground up along the inner in the run towards the line when checked as ALAMEIN BEAUDEN angled into the bend at the line.
Race 9	Outback Trading Company C1 - C1 - 410	BIG TIME EILISH was a late scratching due to a Traffic holdup. ALFIE DAMAN was a late scratching due to a traffic holdup. ADOBE PEBBLES (1) - in the run towards the bend she was tightened and jostled for some distance as ALAMEIN GRAEME attempted to angle to the rail. ALAMEIN GRAEME (2) - angled inwards from the jump jostling with ADOBE PEBBLES for some distance in the run into the bend. MR FARENHEIT (5) - fav- checked when bumped soon after the start as BIG TIME QUINN angled across losing momentum and ground
Race 10	Formpro Ratings Free Every Monday C1 - C1 - 410	BIG TIME PORSCHE was a late scratching due to a traffic holdup. KING THEODEN (5) - awkwardly away for a stride or so. Faltered and lost ground in the run across the top bend finishing onto the lure and was referred to the vet and found to have a torn left gracilis muscle with a 42 day stand down recommended. Required to complete a solo injury trial.
Race 11	PNGRC Sectional Times @ pngreyhounds.kiwi C2 - C2 - 410	BIG TIME HAUTU (4) - hampered soon after the start when tightened between runners and checked back towards the rear. Made good ground thereafter to the line. TRUTH HURTS (5) - soon after the start she was tightened between runners and crowded back to the rear as they entered the bend and was unable to get back into contention thereafter. KIOSK (6) - attempted to angle across from the jump tightening in onto TRUTH HURTS for some BIG TIME YONKERS (7) - unbalanced racing from the start rolling out onto ALLEGRO MADDIE.
Race 12	TAB No Deposit Fees C2 - C2 - 410	TUFF TIGER (5) - soon after the start he angled outwards across the face of OPAWA VIOLET who caught his hindquarters and went out across the line of GOTCHA COOPER checking this runner. GOTCHA COOPER (7) - ran inwards from the jump across the line of OPAWA VIOLET and was then hampered and checked back as TUFF TIGER angled outwards. Checked into the bend when bumping with OPAWA VIOLET. Looking to improve nearing the home turn he angled out wide across heels losing momentum and ground. BIG TIME TASHA (8) - began awkwardly and was unbalanced for some strides . Bumped soon after and was dictated widest into the bend and was unable to make ground thereafter. OPAWA VIOLET (9/6) - checked and pushed in across heels soon after the start catching the hind of TUFF TIGER. Hampered when bumped entering the bend losing momentum.
Race 13	Kilchurn At Stud C3/C4 - C3/4 - 410	BIG TIME ZINGER scratched has been retired. BIG TIME DOMINO (1) - began awkwardly for a stride or so. ALAMEIN BOB (2) - began awkwardly for a stride or so and was contacted and pushed inwards as BIG TIME KATY checked in off heels. BIG TIME KATY (4) - soon after the start she checked in off heels as BIG TIME SPOT moved across. BIG TIME SPOT (5) - angled across from the jump and was contacted when going across the line of BIG TIME KATY and was hampered entering the bend as ALAMEIN BOB attempted to change ground .He was unbalanced for a stride or so and made ground thereafter to the line. BORN TRIXIE (6) - raced wide into the bend. Attempted to make ground wide across the top bend effort told in the run to the line. BIG TIME PRADA (8) - hampered runners slightly for a couple of strides entering the bend as she crossed down to the rail.
Race 14	Total Bodyshop Supplies C3/C4 - C3/4 - 410	DENUTO was a late scratching due to a traffic holdup. BIG TIME MAPLE (1) - fav- began awkwardly for a stride or so. BIG TIME BLAZE (3) - crowded in the early stages. settled back of midfield on the inner across the top bend. Improved to be handy in the run down the home straight weakening out in the latter stages to the line. Referred to the vet and cleared of injury. SEDGEBROOK SALLY (4) - led out and raced handy into the home straight weakened in the latter stages to the line. SCREAMING VIKING (5) - hampered soon after the start as BIG TIME GWYN angled across onto his shoulder. Made very good ground in the latter stages to the line. BIG TIME GWYN (6) - angled inwards from the jump contacting the shoulder of SCREAMING VIKING. Lost some ground entering the bend and was unable to make ground thereafter.
Race 15	Greyhound As Pets C3 - C3 - 410	ALLEGRO BERKLEY (1) - began awkwardly for a stride or so and soon after he angled outwards between runners forcing SO LIKE ME out onto RAPID RENEGADE and BIG TIME HARRY . SO LIKE ME (2) - bumped soon after the start then attempted to push outwards jostling with RAPID RENEGADE for some strides. Checked and came back off heels in the run across the top bend as TIGER CHURN moved down to the rail. BIG TIME HARRY (3) - went up in the boxes as the lids lifted and then angled outwards coming together with BIG TIME PAISLEY as this runner angled across. RAPID RENEGADE (4) - soon after the start he was bumped and pushed outwards being jostled for some strides then checked back off runners losing momentum and ground. TIGER CHURN (6) - improved into the bend angling down to the rail across the line of SO LIKE ME in the run to the top bend. WAITING GAME (7) - slow into stride and was then dictated across and tightened back to the rear. BIG TIME PAISLEY (8) - angled inwards from the jump running in onto BIG TIME HARRY as this runner angled outwards.
