Weather: Raining
Track: Heavy . Due to heavy rain over the previous 24 hours Stewards along with a contingent of trainers, trainer's representatives and Club officials inspected the track prior to the start of the meeting and were happy that the track was safe to race on at that point in time. Stewards continued to monitor the track throughout the meeting due to the continued heavy rain, with a further inspection following race 7 and again following race 8. Following race 9 and further torrential downpours Stewards made the decision to abandon the remainder of the meeting due to welfare concerns.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Palmerston North GRC 7 July 2020 - Trainer G Atwood requested a re-examination of LIGHT CRUISER (race 10 #2) under rule 56 and was found to be clear of injury.

JUDICIAL REPORT:

1) All 305 metre races were hand started today due to an issue with the automatic trip.

2) OH MISS JORDIE (M Clark) successfully completed a satisfactory trial wearing blinkers and is now able to nominate.

3) Prior to the start of race 7 the Starter inadvertently allowed the Greyhounds to box without being given the all clear to do so by the Judge. All of the Greyhounds were removed from the boxes and checked by the vet and cleared to start. Following discussions with the Judge and the Starter, Stewards determined that this was due to a communication error and no further action was deemed necessary.

4) An inquiry has been opened and adjourned into the reasons trainer M Flipp failed to present IDOL LITTLE GIRL to race in Race 9 after being kenneled to do so. This required IDOL LITTLE GIRL to be declared a late scratching by order of Stewards. A further inquiry was opened and adjourned into the conduct shown by Ms Flipp leading up to Race 9.

5) Following the running of race 9 Stewards made the decision to abandon the remainder of the meeting (see above).

NELLIE MARJEN (7) - bumped DERRY BLUES at the start. Bumped FIRECRACKER shortly after the start. Moved in nearing the bend heavily contacting CITIZEN ZAGREB. BIG TIME JUDA (8) - tightened BOOT CAMP TIARA entering the bend.
Race 2	Adept Accountants C0 - C0 - 305	BIG TIME GOLDIE (3) - contacted from behind entering the bend, becoming unbalanced, contacting MILO TONIGHT from behind and losing ground. ALFIE DAMAN (4) - slow away. Raced wide through the home straight. AHUROA LADY (5) - raced wide through the bend and early stages of the home straight. Brushed MILO TONIGHT nearing the winning post. TELLTALE SIGNS (6) - contacted BIG TIME GOLDIE from behind entering the bend. MILO TONIGHT (8) - began awkwardly. Contacted from behind entering the bend. Brushed AHUROA LADY nearing the winning post.
Race 3	CPF Insurance C0 - C0 - 305	HARDCORE JET (1) - jostled with ALLEGRO NIXON through the back straight, eventually becoming unbalanced and losing some ground. Tightened on the point of the bend. ALLEGRO NIXON (2) - jostled with HARDCORE JET through the back straight, becoming unbalanced and bumping PAVING WAY entering the bend. AHUROA WHIZZ (3) - brushed ALLEGRO SADE at the start. Buffeted shortly after the start. ALLEGRO SADE (4) - brushed AHUROA WHIZZ at the start. Buffeted AHUROA WHIZZ shortly after the start, eventually becoming unbalanced and losing some momentum. PAVING WAY (5) - contacted shortly after the start. Jostled, briefly, with OMA RAPETI nearing the bend. Bumped entering the bend. Coursed wide through the home straight. OMA RAPETI (6) - contacted PAVING WAY shortly after the start. Jostled, briefly, with PAVING WAY nearing the bend. Tightened entering the bend, losing ground as a result. DILLER (7) - awkwardly placed behind runners nearing and entering the bend. CAVE WITCH (8) - tightened OMA RAPETI entering the bend. Tightened HARDCORE JET on the point of the bend. Coursed wide through the home straight.
Race 4	First Security Reverse Criteria C1 - C1 - 305	WATCH MARJEN (2) - bumped nearing the bend. Raced wide through the home straight. SHAMROCK GREEN (3) - raced wide through the latter stages of the home straight. HOMEBUSH MAYCEE (5) - down 2.4 kg on it's previous race weight on 25 May. Bumped WATCH MARJEN nearing the bend. COOL WOLF (6) - bumped RAINING SIXES nearing the bend. Coursed wide through the latter stages of the bend and through the home straight. BIG TIME IVY (7) - slow away. Contacted entering the bend, stumbling and losing some ground. Tightened entering the home straight. A post race veterinary examination was carried out which revealed no injuries. RAINING SIXES (8) - bumped nearing the bend. TIDDY CASH (9/4) - brushed HOMEBUSH MAYCEE at the start. Contacted BIG TIME IVY entering the bend. Tightened BIG TIME IVY entering the home straight.
Race 5	Kernow Construction Reverse Criteria C1 - C1 - 520	DYNA BRYLEIGH (1) - brushed MARLEY FARLEY nearing the first bend. Tightened entering the first bend. MARLEY FARLEY (2) - brushed DYNA BRYLEIGH nearing the first bend. Tightened DYNA BRYLEIGH entering the first bend when moving to the rail. BIGTIME BAXTER (6) - slow away. SEDGEBROOK COMET (7) - raced wide at various stages throughout.
Race 6	Hatrick Supporter's Club C1 - C1 - 305	XANTHE JEWEL (1) - brushed BIGTIME MACI entering the home straight. JOHNY MOWHAWK (2) - slow away. Tightened nearing the bend, needing to check off heels to gain clear racing room. BIGTIME MACI (3) - began awkwardly. Tightened JOHNY MOWHAWK nearing the bend. Contacted BOMBSHELL BLONDE entering the bend. Brushed XANTHE JEWEL entering the home straight. BIG TIME RUSTY (5) - began awkwardly. BOMBSHELL BLONDE (9/4) - contacted entering the bend, losing ground and out of contention thereafter. A post race veterinary examination was carried out which revealed pain over right triceps and shoulder extension.
Race 7	www.racingtips.co.nz C1 - C1 - 305	The Starter inadvertently allowed the Greyhounds to box without being given the all clear to do so by the Judge. All of the Greyhounds were removed from the boxes and checked by the vet and cleared to start. Refer judicial. ALAMEIN GRAEME (1) - slow away. Tightened entering the bend needing to check across heels. HARDCORE KYLIE (2) - bumped nearing the bend, then tightened ALAMEIN GRAEME. SIDELINE SALLY (4) - bumped HARDCORE KYLIE nearing the bend. YEE COO COO (5) - up 1.6 kg on it's previous race start on 1 January. LUCKY SCAR (6) - bumped IDOL LEO at the start. Checked IDOL LEO entering the bend. IDOL LEO (7) - bumped at the start, then bumped PARADOX PRINCE. Checked and fell entering the bend, falling into the racing line of PARADOX PRINCE. Did not complete the race and was found to have injured a hock and was humanely euthanized by the on track vet. PARADOX PRINCE (8) - bumped at the start. Interfered with by fallen runner entering the bend, out of contention thereafter. A post race veterinary examination was carried out which revealed no injuries.
Race 8	Accell Leading The Way In Canine Therapy C1 - C1 - 520	BIGTIME AVA (1) - raced wide through the back straight. ALLEGRO SKYE (3) - bumped SLAM IT at the start. Bumped PENNY MOWHAWK shortly after the start. SLAM IT (4) - bumped and tightened at the start. Bumped OPAWA LARA entering the first bend. PENNY MOWHAWK (5) - tightened SLAM IT at the start. Bumped shortly after the start. Brushed RACE ME HOME entering the first bend. RACE ME HOME (6) - brushed PENNY MOWHAWK entering the first bend. OPAWA LARA (8) - began awkwardly. Bumped entering the first bend. A post race veterinary examination was carried out which revealed a split webbing.
Race 9	Red Snapper Seafoods, Christchurch C1 - C1 - 305	IDOL LITTLE GIRL was scratched by order of Stewards pursuant with Rule 11.3(l). BORN FAB (3) - squeezed MISS COWDREY shortly after the start. Bumped MISS COWDREY on the point of the bend. MANIMAL (4) - brushed AHUROA PRINCE nearing the bend. Contacted from behind entering the bend. AHUROA PRINCE (5) - began awkwardly. Brushed MANIMAL nearing the bend, appearing awkward in its action thereafter and completing the event some distance from the remainder of the field. A post race veterinary examination was carried out which revealed a foot injury with the on track vet advising connections to have x-rays carried out as soon as practicable. MISS COWDREY (6) - bumped at the start. Squeezed between runners shortly after the start. Bumped on the point of the bend. Raced wide through the home straight. WEBBER COME (7) - began awkwardly, bumping MISS COWDREY at the start. Squeezed MISS COWDREY shortly after the start. Contacted MANIMAL from behind entering the bend.
