Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: 1). MERTZ (J T McInerney) - was a late scratching at kenneling on Veterinary advice.

2). Due to concerns raised by a number of Trainers and Trainers Representatives in regards to the safety of the track after the running of Race 4 Stewards commissioned the Club's Track Safety Committee for a review of the track and in particular the concentrated area to which held most of their concerns. The track was reassessed subsequent to being re-groomed and after taking into account the submissions from all trainers with greyhounds engaged on the programme, the on-course Veterinarian, Racing Manager Mr T Music, Track Curator Mr P Scott and the Stewards it was the view of the Safety Committee that the track was safe for racing and the meeting commenced accordingly. As a consequence to this the meeting was put back 2 races.

3). VON STRASS (J & D Fahey) - application was made to cancel the endorsement under Rule 55 after the bitch completed its Tenth clear run this evening without re-offending.

4). REIGN OF FIRE (J McInerney) - removed from the box first list.

5). OPAWA LYN (R Wales) - was stood down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trial for Failing to Pursue the Lure in Race 11.

6) CROTTY (A Bradshaw) - was stood down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trial for Failing to Pursue the Lure in Race 12.

7) An Investigation was opened into the reasons Handler P Seque failed to have CROTTY examined by the On-Course Veterinarian post race.

8). All available films may be further reviewed in the coming days and any matter arising will be dealt with subject to Rule 11.1 (b).

Squeezed for racing room entering the bend and lost ground. KNOW RESPECT (6) - checked from behind rounding the bend. NIPPA EEL (9/3) - squeezed for racing room early stages.
Race 2	Durasteel Structures Ph 033796195 Sprint - C4 - 295	SOZIN'S BLUE (4) - terminally checked entering the bend. Vetted following the event and cleared of injury. DIZZY BANJO (5) - awkwardly placed between greyhounds in the run to the bend. Became awkwardly positioned to the inside of runner entering the bend and fell to the track. Vetted following the event and cleared of injury. NOZZNO FEAR (6) - inconvenienced rounding the bend and race wide on the track. Proved difficult to catch post race. Vetted clear once caught. HEAR THIS (7) - forced wide rounding the bend.
Race 3	Fox & Ferret @ The Palms Dash - C3 - 295	BARELLEN PANTHER (2) - forced outside runner wide entering the bend when shifting ground. HI HO TONTO (4) - squeezed for racing room in the run to the bend losing ground. Checked entering the bend losing its chance. Vetted following the event and cleared of injury. NIPPA MARTINO (6) - bumped inside greyhound in the run to the bend. Checked entering the bend losing its chance. Vetted following the event and cleared of injury. LIGHTNING CRASH (7) - inconvenienced rounding the bend. COSMIC RICHIE (8) - checked entering the bend before faltering losing ground and checking trailing runners. Vetted following the event where it was reported to have torn its right gracilis muscle.
Race 4	Active Electrical Christchurch Sprint - C3 - 295	JITTERBUG JEWEL (1) - awkwardly placed to the inside of runners rounding the bend. HOMEBUSH FUED (3) - contacted from outside early stages becoming unbalanced. GO GUNNA (4) - made heavy contact with the lure on pulling up. Vetted where it was subsequently reported to have sustained a suspected fractured scapula. SIERRA DELTA (5) - forced down the track initial stages having to steady off heels. VASTERBOTTENOST (6) - crowded for racing room early stages. BLACK DAN (7) - crowded for racing room early stages. Checked off heels entering the bend and again exiting it. BOTANY ALAN (8) - came down the track initial stages crowding inside greyhounds.
Race 5	Thursday Place Pick Stakes - C4/5 - 520	DYNA WESLYN (1) - placed in restricted room entering the first turn. Checked outwards off heels rounding the first turn colliding with outside runner. GOLDSTAR ASHTON (4) - squeezed for racing room entering the first turn and lost ground. GOLDSTAR MARVELY (5) - checked and lost ground entering the first turn. AVENGER BALE (6) - inconvenienced entering the first turn. DYNA DAVE (8) - checked rounding the first turn. BARGE BALE (9/3) - checked rounding the first turn.
Race 6	Christchurch Casino Sprint - C3 - 295	DAHTESTE (6) - severely checked at the start. COSMIC JASE (7) - racing line impeded early stages losing ground. HOMEBUSH COMET (8) - came down the track abruptly at the start crowding inside runners.
Race 7	Addington Events Centre Dash - C3 - 295	CULVIE JAY DEE (2) - squeezed for room entering the turn having to steady for a stride. JOE BONANZA (6) - boxed first. OHOKA ANGEL (7) - slow initial stages. REIGN OF FIRE (9/8) - boxed first.
Race 8	Kaisa Earthworks Ph 0272073323 Dash - C4 - 295	MERTZ (J McInerney) was a late scratching at kenneling with spike wounds on a gracilis. BILLY FROST (4) - Awkwardly placed on heels rounding the bend and had to check losing ground. SHANLY STAR (5) - contacted and bumped down the track initial stages. Checked from behind rounding the bend. ELODEA (6) - collided with inside runner initial stages. FIERY JEN (7) - began awkwardly and was last on settling. Checked and lost all momentum rounding the bend.
Race 9	Valentine's Day Dash - C5 - 295	MITCHAM READO (2) - awkwardly placed on heels shortly after the start and again home straight. DUSKY BREW (3) - checked from behind home straight. EDGE OF TOWN (5) - checked outwards off heels rounding the bend colliding with outside greyhound. DYNA KUSHIDA (9/8) - checked rounding and exiting the bend and again shortly after entering the home straight.
Race 10	I Pave Concrete R/A Feature - R/A - 520	COSMIC RUBEN (4) - awkwardly placed on heels entering the first turn shifting up the track in consequence inconveniencing outside runners. MR. MATT (5) - inconvenienced entering the first turn losing ground on the leaders. OPAWA VIKING (6) - slow to jump then squeezed for racing room having to check. Inconvenienced entering the first turn losing ground on the leaders. LACKO ALLEN (7) - inconvenienced entering the first turn losing ground on the leaders. ZEFSIDE (8) - inconvenienced entering the first turn losing ground on the leaders.
Race 11	Flair R/A Feature - R/A - 520	OPAWA LYN (1) - turned its head outwards on jumping whilst free of interference before making contact with outside greyhound. Checked entering the first bend shifting up the track and forcing outside runners wide. Vetted following the race and and re-vetted again on being cooled down and cleared of injury. Stood down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trial for Failing to Pursue the Lure. OPHELIA ALLEN (2) - contacted from the inside initial stages losing ground. Forced wide entering the first turn. BASHFUL BUFFY (3) - awkwardly placed on heels entering the first turn having to check outwards bumping outside greyhound. GO GLOW (6) - slow early. BUSY FLASH (7) - bumped from the inside entering the first bend ELLAND ROAD (8) - slow early. Checked and forced wide entering the first turn.
Race 12	Livamol Sprint - C4 - 295	HOMEBUSH BODEN (2) - awkwardly placed to the outside of runner exiting the bend and shifted up the track. CROTTY (3) - awkwardly placed on heels in the run to the bend. Shifted up the track rounding the bend and eased out of the race. Stewards requested a Veterinarian examination post race however the greyhound was removed from the course immediately following the event prior to this being able to be undertaken. Given that the Veterinarian was not afforded the opportunity to examine CROTTY, Stewards were compelled to deem the greyhound as injury free and as a consequence stood it down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trial for Failing to Pursue the Lure. DEBBIE BAXTER (5) - checked from behind in the run to the bend. Squeezed for room and lost momentum entering the bend. Check off heels in the run to the finish.
