Track: Good . The starting boxes at the 630m mark malfunctioned in Race 5 with problems experienced with both the lid magnet and release trigger. Repairs were effected and the race was re-run (see report below under Race 5).
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment: Nil.

Judicial report: Under Rule 19.11 greyhounds are not eligible to be compete in more than one totalisator event on consecutive days. GO BELLE (R.Wales) in Race 2 and BULA ROBERTS (AC Roberts) in Race 10 were withdrawn under this Rule after having been nominated to race at Christchurch on 25 January and trainers were issued with a warning.

COSMIC JAMIE (3) - severely bumped at the jump becoming unbalanced and turned sideways losing momentum. In the run to the turn heavily checked from the inside losing ground and all chance to finish last. COSMIC RYDER (4) - checked at the jump and tightened into the turn. FOUR TWENTY (5) - checked at the jump and tightened into the turn. DYNA BART (7) - checked at the jump. COSMIC JASE (8) - ran sharply inwards from the jump checking runners to inside and severely bumping another runner.
Race 2	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C0 - 457	GO SLICK (1) - slow to jump. Severely checked twice on turn and into straight, bumped and forced wide. GLASS HARPOON (4) - checked in run to the turn. BOUNCER MILO (5) - shifted inwards in run to the turn checking runner to inside. TARTAN WATCH (6) - shifted abruplty outwards at the jump checking runner to outside. Ran outwards on turn into straight bumping runner and severely checking another runner. KOPUTAI (9/2) - ran outwards in the run to the turn dictating another runner wide. Checked outwards off heels on turn and ran wide. Severely tightened between runners into straight and forced outwards. A post race veterinary check of this runner revealed a minor spike wound with no stand down recommended. DYNA (8) - checked at the jump and dictated wide in run to the turn. Tightened on turn into straight and forced to check outwards off heels severely checking outside runner. SPRINGHEEL JACK (10/7) - severely checked at the jump and forced outwards checking runner to outside.
Race 3	GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C1 - 457	GO ALL LIN (1) - pushed outwards into the turn tightening runner to outside. Ran wide on turn and in straight. COSMIC STU (3) - checked shortly after the jump losing ground. ALLEN MACK (4) - crossed over into the turn checking runner to inside. TUBBY KEVIE (5) - tightened between runnersand checked into turn losing ground. HOMEBUSH RAGNA (6) - ran inwards from the jump checking runner to inside. SPRING SAM (7) - ran inwards into the turn tightening runner to inside.
Race 4	DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER - C1 - 457	AVALANCH CITY (1) - checked into the turn. HANKENSTEIN (3) - tightened between runners in run to the turn losing momentum. Ran wide on turn and in straight. GO ASH (4) - tightened into the turn then shifted inwards checking trailing runners. SKITZER (5) - shifted inwards in run to the turn tightening runners to inside. CHIEF DOUG (7) - ran wide in straight.
Race 5	SUMMERTIME DISTANCE - C2d - 630	Prior to the start of the race Stewards checked the starting boxes at the 630m mark after problems were experienced with the magnet failing to catch on the inside of the lids when the boxes were being checked. Repairs were effected and the lids tested with the race cleared to start. The starting box lids then failed to open on the first pass of the lure with the problem isolated to the trigger switch on this occasion. All dogs were removed from the starting boxes and were checked by the vet and cleared to start. The starting box lids were again checked and tested and the race was then re-run safely with no problem some 4 minutes later. With the shortage of licensed persons on course Stewards prior to the meeting gave permission for handlers to run back towards the finish and or catch more than one dog with the proviso that no greyhounds were to be allowed to run loose on the track and must be under effective control. This was a one-off scenario with no problems. After the race and prior to authorising payment Stewards checked the lure distance to ensure the distance at the start was within acceptable limits and were satisfied that this was the case. In the race: OPAWA SOPHIE (2) - checked outwards off heels on first turn checking runners to outside. LUCIASTAR (4) - jumped awkwardly losing momentum. HERITAGE WATCH (7) - checked on first turn. TRANSLATOR (8) - slow to jump losing ground and checked on first turn.
Race 6	GREEN CHARTRUSE CHALLENGE RACES 6 ,7, 9 & 10 - C1 - 390	SOZIN'S EMPEROR (2) - shifted outwards off heels on turn running wide and losing ground. HOMEBUSH HAZEL (6) - slow to jump losing ground early.
Race 7	CONGRATULATIONS HUGH G - C1 - 390	ZEPHANIAH (3) - ran sharply outwards into straight tightening trailing runner. JAKALBERRY JEWEL (7) - very slow to jump losing ground early. Tightened into straight checking trailing runner. SACRED OPERA (10/4) - checked into straight becoming unbalanced and losing ground.
Race 8	RACING AGAIN 6th FEBRUARY - C4/5 - 390	PRINCELY GOLD (2) - checked into the turn. PUMA PANTS (5) - shifted nwards into turn checking runner to inside. COSMIC RICHIE (7) - tightened between runners on turn losing ground.
Race 9	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	JINJA CODY (6) - checked outwards across heels into the straight checking trailing runner. SOZIN'S FORTUNE (8) - slow to jump losing ground early. Checked into straight.
Race 10	MR WHIPPY SOUTHLAND - C1 - 390	AMY BAXTER (7) - checked outwards off heels on the turn and ran very wide in the straight.
Race 11	[email protected] ph 021657001 - C4/5 - 457	SOUTHERN LIGHTS (8) - checked into straight. SEA FEVER (9/4) - shifted outwards into straight checking runner to outside.
Race 12	www.bodyaudit.co.nz - C2/3 - 390	OHOKA ALEX (4) - slow to jump then checked when bumped. Shifted outwards on turn checking runner to outside. BLACK TORI (5) - ran inwards from the jump checking runner to inside. STORMING MACK (7) - slow to jump, then tightened and became unbalanced when shifting inwards and bumping inside runner. Checked on turn losing ground.
