Track: Good . Following on from problems noted at the last meeting with the 390m starting boxes, the Southland Club has been in discussion with GRNZ and identified necessary modifications required for the latches on the lids to ensure the boxes opened automatically. Until this work is carried out and the lids tested some adjustments have been made and Stewards requested that, given the previous failures and the need for remedial work, all starts for this meeting would be by way of manual operation by the Starter.

On the turn tightened by runner to outside losing ground. JIMMY'S STAR (5) - dictated inwards at the jump. Ran wide on turn losing ground. BRAD BAXTER (6) - bounded at the jump losing momentum, then ran inwards dictating another runner down. Severely checked into turn, brushing running rail and losing ground. LEO'S SON (8) - ran inwards from the jump bumping runner to inside and then tightened inside runner on turn.
Race 2	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 390	GOLDSTAR RAVEN (3) - checked into turn and heels clipped losing ground. AFRICAN VIOLET (4) - tightened into the turn and clipped heels, falling and losing all chance with a resulting check to trailing runner. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. DAVE'S DOT (8) - crossed over into the turn checking runner to inside. HOMEBUSH BOW (9) - checked into turn losing ground.
Race 3	MR WHIPPY SOUTHLAND - C0 - 457	OPAWA SPIRIT (Lane/Wales) was 1.7kg up from last race start on 28th March. TRUMPED (1) - slow to jump. FORKNER BALE (3) - pushed outwards in run to the turn checking runner to outside and severely checking trailingh runner.. GOLDSTAR RENEE (4) - ran outwards shortly after the jump checking runners to outside, then checked in run to the turn. Checked into turn. Ran wide iin straight. GOLDSTAR MARVELY (6) - checked shortly after the jump. Checked outwards off heels iinto the turn checking trailing runners. GOLDSTAR ASHTON (7) - checked at the jump and again shortly afterwards. Checked into turn. OPAWA AL (8) - shifted inwards at jump checking runner to inside. Severely checked and fell in run to the turn losing all chance to finisha distant last. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury.
Race 4	ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C0 - 457	WHITE NOT WONG (4) - jumped awkwardly losing momentum. OPAWA VEGAN (5) - slow to jump. Shifted outwards into turn pushing runners wide. OPAWA JUMPER (6) - heels clipped at jump. GOLDSTAR SCOOBY (7) - slipped heels from jump losing momentum. Dictated wide into turn. GOLDSTAR ALFIE (8) - tightened and pushed wide into turn.
Race 5	RIVERTON STAKES - C3 - 457	PENALTY BALE (2) - slow to jump. FLAMING SAMBUCA (4) - tightened between runners shortly after the jump losing momentum, then tightened into turn. GOLDSTAR PO (5) - shifted inwards into turn tightening trailing runner.
Race 6	DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER DASH - C2 - 390	MAX STIX (4) - bumped shortly after the jump losing momentum. Forced to check outwards off heels into turn checking trailing runners. ANA DIOR (6) - bumped soon after the jump losing momentum. Checked into turn. IDOL STAR (7) - tightened into turn losing ground. THESEUS (8) - ran wide on turn and in straight.
Race 7	HAPPY 21ST GRASSHOPPER - C1 - 457	AWESOME ANNIE (1) - ran wide in straight. LUCIASTAR (4) - tightened between runners at the jump losing ground. AUSSI JOSHY (5) - ran wide in straight.
Race 8	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C1 - 390	LIGHT THAW (1) - tightened into turn losing ground and checking trailing runners. RIB CURLER (2) - shifted inwards into turn checking trailing runners. DRAGON QUEEN (3) - tightened and checked outwards off heels into turn. UMBREON BALE (4) - checked and lost ground shortly after the jump. Then checked into turn. DETECTIVE DASH (5) - shifted inwards shortly after the jump checking runner to inside. Ran wide on turn. AD'S SPICE (7) - tightened between runners at the jump.
Race 9	GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C1 - 390	WEARS THE GOLD (2) - badly checked into turn. CAWBOURNE MURF (3) - jumped awkwardly losing ground early. NIPPA EEL (6) - checked between runners shortly after the jump losing ground and tightened between runners in run to the turn. Further checked into the turn and ran wide. BLACK DAN (7) - checked into the turn with resulting check to trailing runner. DEFINITE (8) - shifted ground inwards into turn severely checking runners to inside.
Race 10	ASCOT PARK CONSORTIUM - C5 - 390	No racing incidents to report.
Race 11	CONGRATULATIONS ZANE B - C3/4 - 390	SUPER BAD (5) - ran wide in straight. OPAWA BINGE (6) - checked at the jump. Ran outwards on turn dictating another runner wide. Struck rear of runner on turn and lost ground. CACTUS JACK (7) - checked at jump. Pushed wide on turn. Struck on turn by trailing runner, becoming unbalanced and losing ground. NIPPAOFSAMBUCCA (8) - shifted inwards at the jump checking runners to inside.
Race 12	RACING AGAIN 4TH JULY - C1/2 - 457	ROYAL ACTION (9/8) - slow to jump and lost ground.
