Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: 1). Trainer A Roberts was fined $150.00 for having HOTDOG SHANNON engaged at both today's meeting and the meeting held at the Otago GRC's meeting on the same day. Subsequently, per Rule 64.4, HOTDOG SHANNON was stood down for the mandatory 28 days effective from 5 April 2017.

2). OAK SPUR (Race 4) was a late scratching at kenneling due to being found in season.

3). Track was upgraded to Good prior to Race 7.

4). Race 10 was delayed due to a malfunction with the box lids prematurely activating while the field was lined up ready to be boxed. The club undertook to have these inspected and repaired so as to not have a repeat situation prior to the next meeting.

OHOKA MAGIC (5) - squeezed for racing room shortly after the start. Awkwardly placed on heels rounding the bend and lost momentum. Bumped with inside runner entering home straight. ROAD BLOCK (7) - boxed first. Made contact with inside runner exiting bend. Bumped with outside runner entering home straight.
Race 2	DogZone Dash - C1 - 295	CATLIN BLUEBLOOD (5) - raced 3.7kgs down from its last start on the 07 December 2016. Struggled to maintain position with field prior to entering the bend. Continued to lose ground with field with this performance being noted after a post race vet check revealed nothing to be amiss. COLERIDGE JIM (7) - boxed first. SEASPRAY CRACKER (8) - came up with the lid and settled last.
Race 3	Spectator's Bar & Bistro Sprint - C1 - 295	ABACUS MAGIC (3) - awkwardly placed to the outside of runner entering bend. BUDGIE RIGHT (4) - contacted from outside early stages. MINDER (5) - contacted inside runner early stages. Awkwardly placed to the outside of runner rounding bend and lost momentum. UNFOUNDED (7) - came up with the lid and settled last. Checked rounding bend when placed in restricted room.
Race 4	Shirley Vet Clinic Stakes - C1 - 520	CAWBOURNE PALMER (1) - slow to jump. OPAWA ASH (2) - made contact with outside runner entering bend shifting up the track forcing runner wide. Ran wide down back straight losing ground with field. Co-Trainer R Wales advised he would expect benefit with the performance given it was the bitches first run back from a lengthy spell. These comments were noted. OPAWA MINSTREL (3) - contacted prior to first bend before being squeezed and losing ground. OPAWA ALEX (10/4) - checked outwards off heels rounding first bend. Checked again exiting final bend. MYSTIC ACTION (5) - squeezed for racing room entering first bend before being obliged to check off heels. Placed in restricted room exiting final bend. WAIMAC (6) - came down track and made contact with inside runner prior to first bend. Forced up the track entering first bend. Squeezed for room prior to the finishing line. OAK SPUR (8) - late scratched at kenneling due to being in season.
Race 5	Greyhounds As Pets Dash - C1 - 295	MULBERRY THUNDER (2) - placed in restricted room entering bend and had to steady losing ground. BEN JAMMING (3) - awkwardly placed on heels rounding being having to steady. HOMEBUSH TULIP (4) - squeezed for racing room in run to bend. DORA DUFRAN (5) - squeezed for racing room in run to bend. Lost ground when awkwardly placed to the outside of runner entering bend.
Race 6	A2B Asphalt Canterbury Sprint - C1 - 295	OHOKA BRAXTON (4) - slightly squeezed early stages. Checked outwards off heels exiting bend. FEAR THE BEARD (5) - bumped from outside early stages before being dragged down entering bend. Referred to vet - Cleared of injury. FLASH THE CASH (6) - awkwardly placed to the outside of runner rounding bend losing minimal momentum. KELLY'S BOY (7) - came down track contacting inside runner early stages. Climbed on heels entering bend and lost ground.
Race 7	Bill's Bar & Bistro Stakes - C1 - 520	SHADY SNAPPER (2) - slow to jump. FALCONHURST (3) - checked outwards off heels entering the first bend dictating outside runners wide. DEAD WONG (4) - dictated wide entering the first bend. NARITI (5) - squeezed early stages. Dragged down passing the finishing line on the first occasion. Checked outwards off heels rounding the final bend. Collapsed and fell just after the finishing line. Referred to the vet which revealed the bitch to have severely tied up. Trainer R Blackburn advised she would be retiring her from racing effective immediately. OPAWA JUDY (6) - slow to jump. CHARLIE RUNKEL (7) - contacted from inside early stages. KELLY'S MY NAME (8) - dictated wide entering the first bend.
Race 8	Chris & Lisa Earl Dash - C1 - 295	GO TOMMO (1) - awkwardly placed on heels entering the bend having to check outwards. Made contact with inside runner exiting bend. SOZIN'S BLUE (2) - jostled with outside runner during early stages of home straight. SEA SPRAY ELSA (4) - came up the track early stages contacting outside runners. SMASH FIRE (5) - jostled with inside runner during early stages of home straight before being slightly turned outwards losing momentum. JINGA SNAG (6) - squeezed early stages. BAD BINDI (7) - squeezed early stages. Contacted from outside exiting bend.
Race 9	Dave Robbie Photographer Dash - C1 - 295	ROYAL DESCENT (1) - awkwardly placed rounding bend. KABLITZ (4) - held up fro racing room rounding bend. BROOKE DAVIS (6) - dragged down entering the bend losing ground. Checked by inside runner exiting bend. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this bitch in the coming days. MAX BRAINSTRAIN (7) - began awkwardly. GOLDSTAR ARCHIE (8) - checked outwards off heels exiting bend contacting outside runner.
Race 10	Christchurch Casino Stakes - C1 - 520	FAB ACTION (2) - jostled with outside runner early stages. GOLDSTAR DODGE (3) - jostled with inside runner early stages. Awkwardly placed on heels entering first bend. QADIR BALE (4) - slow early. Checked outwards off heels rounding final bend.
Race 11	Amber Cleaning Services Sprint - C1 - 295	SMOKEY ACTION (3) - squeezed for racing room entering the bend. OHOKA ANGEL (4) - appeared to brush the rail entering the bend losing momentum. CROTTY (5) - awkwardly placed on heels entering the bend having to check. LEXIE RAE (7) - squeezed for racing room entering the bend losing ground. LUCKY SUNDAY (8) - awkwardly placed to the outside of runners entering the bend and had to steady.
Race 12	Livamol Dash - C1 - 295	IDOL GEORGIE (1) - forced down track in run to bend. Checked outwards off heels exiting bend making contact with outside runner. SMASH ATTACK (3) - came down track in run to bend making contact with inside runner. ZABAMBI (4) - contacted from outside early stages. Again contacted from inside prior to bend. JINNO GINO (5) - came inwards contacting inside runner early stages. Bumped outwards exiting bend. GOLDSTAR BOMBER (6) - contacted from inside early stages.
