Judicial report: AVALANCH CITY failed to pursue the lure throughout the running of Race 6 and was subsequently stood-down for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial pursuant to Rule 79.1(b).

Race 1 | SGRC WELCOME - C0 - 390 | SHIFT THE BLAME (8) was last to jump. ESKIMO CHILL (3) raced in restricted room shortly after the start when between GOODBYE PORKPIE (2) and GORDY JUNIOR (4) which ran inwards. LOCKY BAXTER (1) ran outwards entering the bend contacting the heel of HOMEBUSH SCRIBE (7). LOCKY BAXTER was then dragged down when shifting outwards into the running line of ESKIMO CHILL which was hampered when unable to avoid that runners heels. Also hampered in this incident was MISS BLUE SKY (5) and WAIMAK SHEFF (6) which were forced wider on the track. When questioned regarding the improved performance of GOODBYE PORKPIE, trainer B Healey advised that the dog had trialed well leading up to today's event and was confident of a forward showing. |
Race 2 | SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390 | BRONSON JEWEL (1) was slow to jump. LOTS OF BEERSIES (5) ran inwards abruptly through the early stages crowding SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD (4) and BEN JAMMING (3) with both runners losing ground. HIS NIBS (6) ran inwards approaching the bend bumping on several occasions with LOTS OF BEERSIES which in turn bumped NO TINKERBELL (2). BEN JAMMING and SPEEDY BLUEBLOOD collided racing into the bend, with both runners being further hampered when forced wider by BRONSON JEWEL which checked outwards across heels. |
Race 3 | ADDED ENERGY DASH - C1 - 390 | THRILLING SPELL (3) ran outwards entering the bend colliding with the hindquarters of FRECKLE FLYER (1) which was badly unbalanced for short distance. Hampered in consequence were the trailing STAR APACHE (5) and CHILL OUT RACH (6). FRECKLE FLYER underwent a post-race veterinary inspection which revealed no obvious abnormalities. CRONOS (1) went off stride when shifting ground in the early stages of the home straight. |
Race 4 | CONGRATULATIONS "HOT N SPICY" - C2 - 390 | MAX STIX (6) was tightened leaving the boxes when between OPAWA IDOL (5) and HOMEBUSH RILEY (7) which angled inwards. ANOTHER SPIN (3) was crowded on jumping when between SCARY CANARY (4) and THESEUS (2), both of which shifted ground. THESEUS was then inclined to shift ground outwards through the early stages colliding with ANOTHER SPIN which in turn was made heavy contact with MAX STIX which lost ground.THESEUS continued to run outwards through the middle stages forcing ANOTHER SPIN wider rounding the bend. HOMEBUSH RILEY had to check inwards across heels entering the bend when placed in restricted room between OPAWA IDOL and ANOTHER JAMIE (8). |
Race 5 | CONGRATULATIONS "THE COLONEL" - C3/4 - 457 | LEKTRA CONCORD (3) and KNOW SCHOLAR (4) collided on jumping. MUST DESIRE (6) ran inwards shortly after the start crowding ZIPPING SONNY (5), LEKTRA CONCORD and KNOW SCHOLAR, with these runners checking across the heels of MUST DESIRE. ABRASADOR (1) lost momentum racing into the bend when becoming awkwardly placed near the heels of HOMEBUSH KELSO (9/7) which angled inwards toward the running line. LEKTRA CONCORD ran wide rounding the bend into the home straight. |
Race 6 | GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C0 - 457 | SOUTHERN HONEY (3) was very slow to begin (6L). Racing toward the bend AVALANCH CITY (2) turned its head for several strides towards OPAWA TOP when free of interference. AVALANCH CITY then jostled with TODD BLUE BLOOD (4) which was further hampered when tightened between AVALANCH CITY and OPAWA TOP which ran inwards. TODD BLUE BLOOD ran outwards entering the bend pushing MYA TIME (7) wider on the track. OPAWA PAM (5) clipped the heel of AVALANCH CITY rounding the bend when attempting a narrow run between that runner and LIGHT THAW (6). AVALANCH CITY underwent a post-race veterinary inspection which revealed no obvious abnormalities. After hearing submissions from trainer J McInerney, Stewards were satisfied that AVALANCH CITY had failed to pursue the lure throughout the running and subsequently was stood-down for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial pursuant to Rule 79.1(b). |
Race 7 | www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C5 - 390 | NO LEAF CLOVER (7) and WHEELCHAIR NORM (8) were last to leave the boxes. HARKONEN BALE (2) was crowded entering the bend when between MAGIC MIKE (1) and CHICAGO BLACK (5). HARKONEN BALE was then further hampered when dragged down by the trailing AIR EXPRESS (3), shifting outwards resulting in DYNA QUIRK (4) and WHEELCHAIR NORM being pushed wider on the track. |
Race 8 | ASCOT PARK CONSORTIUM - C1 - 457 | KNOW HASSLE (3) was slow to jump. KNOW HASSLE then had to check approaching the bend when awkwardly near the heels of SPRING SAM (4). |
Race 9 | Racing Series Novice Final - NZRSf - 457 | ALBIE PUNTER (5) and RIB CURLER (2) were last to jump. ALBIE PUNTER and OBEYANCE (9/3) collided in the early stages, with ALBIE PUNTER being forced onto the heels of KNOW RESPECT (6), contacting that runners heel shortly after. KNOW RESPECT ran inwards across the heels of OPAWA HARRY entering the bend resulting in OPAWA ALEX (4), DEBORAH BAY (1) and OBEYANCE being crowded for several strides. |
Race 10 | SECOND PLACE FOR "HUGH" - C2 - 457 | OPAWA JEMAINE (6) was slow to jump. PUKEKO BOLT (2) was crowded on jumping when between HOMEBUSH HOWARD (1) and DEFINITE (3) which ran inwards. NESSIE ALLAN (7) checked outwards off the heels of BOTANY ALAN (8) in the early stages, with NESSIE ALLAN colliding with OPAWA JEMAINE shortly after. |
Race 11 | 40+ YEARS SERVICE FRASER LAMB - C4 - 390 | OPAWA CRUSADE (6) was slow to jump. ANOTHER LIZ (8) ran inwards appraoching the bend crowding ANOTHER BELLE (4). HOMEBUSH ROCKY (3) ran outwards into the bend hampering ANOTHER BELLE and ANOTHER MESSAGE (5), with OPAWA CRUSADE being pushed wider on the track. |
