| Race 1 | MTA Gift Vouchers Sprint - C4 - 318 | UMAGA RAMA (1) was last to leave the boxes. Soon after the start FRESCO STAR (5) angled in briefly getting on the heels of SKYLER WHITE (4) then making solid contact with the hindquarters of TRIPLE PARKED (3) losing ground. Entering the first turn TRIPLE PARKED shifted out abruptly getting on the heels of LITTLE RASCAL (2) who had shifted in with TRIPLE PARKED shifting wide making contact with SACRED CAN YOU (8) with these runners losing ground. Also inconvenienced as a result was MACJAM (7). LITTLE RASCAL shifted out slightly in the final straight inconveniencing UMAGA RAMA. TRIPLE PARKED and SACRED CAN YOU raced wide rounding the bend and throughout the final straight. |
| Race 2 | Deli's Sports Bar Clendon Inn Sprint - C2 - 318 | OPAWA BINGE (6) and BELCROFT BANKER (7) came together leaving the boxes with these runners both becoming unbalanced. RED RASCAL (3) was hampered losing ground soon after the start when placed in restricted room making contact with MORE SALT NEEDED (4) and OUR SWIFT BUDDY (2). HARSESIS (1) and OUR SWIFT BUDDY then came together for several strides. Racing down the back straight CALAMITY FREE (8) angled in inconveniencing DIPSY LALA (5) and MORE SALT NEEDED who were taken in losing ground. OPAWA BINGE and BELCROFT BANKER jostled for a distance racing down the back straight with BELCROFT BANKER becoming badly unbalanced entering the first turn shifting in hampering MORE SALT NEEDED and OUR SWIFT BUDDY with these runners all losing ground and OUR SWIFT BUDDY and BELCROFT BANKER then racing wide for a distance. |
| Race 3 | Jim & Alice Sirey Stakes - C1 - 527 | EMBRACE ME (5) stood in the boxes as the start was effected losing ground. Soon after the start EMBRACE ME made contact with the hindquarters of PLENTY OF TIME (7). OPAWA LARRY (9) was inconvenienced soon after the start when CONTEMPORANEOUS (3) shifted in. OPAWA LARRY and PLENTY OF TIME made contact racing toward the first turn. MOCKINGJAY (4) and LOVELY RITA (1) came together and jostled for a distance racing into the first turn with MOCKINGJAY losing ground, these runners were then further hampered when CRYING IN VEGAS (6) angled in. As a result LOVELY RITA shifted out across the heels of CRYING IN VEGAS inconveniencing CONTEMPORANEOUS and FREDDY BEDROCK (8) who were taken wide and MOCKINGJAY who lost ground going back onto PLENTY OF TIME and OPAWA LARRY with these three runners making contact for a distance with MOCKINGJAY and OPAWA LARRY losing ground. PLENTY OF TIME had to steady off heels entering the final bend losing ground. |
| Race 4 | Stitches Upholstery Sprint - C3 - 318 | WHISPER MAGIC presented with a 2.2kg increase in weight since its last start on 4th January 2016 with connections advising this was an intentional weight variance. KIMETTO (5) was last to leave the boxes. WHISPER MAGIC (2) stumbled for a stride leaving the boxes. CYCLONE LUSI (7) and LOOKS ALL GOOD (8) jostled for a distance soon after the start with MITTYESQUE (4) then shifting out making solid contact with these runners for a distance with MITTYESQUE and CYCLONE LUSI losing ground. Entering the first turn MITTYESQUE and CYCLONE LUSI angled in with MITTYESQUE making contact with KIMETTO, becoming unbalanced then shifting out hampering CYCLONE LUSI losing ground. |
| Race 5 | Double R Cup Distance Final - C2df - 603 | BIG RED CHEV presented with a 1.3kg decrease in weight since its last race on 4th December 2015 with connections advising this was an intentional weight variance. All runners entered the first turn in a compact line with ALLMENDINGER (3) losing ground and THRILLING EVIE (8) shifting wide losing ground. TRUST ISSUES (1) made contact with the hindquarters of FAST RIGBY (2) entering the front straight on the first occasion. ALLMENDINGER shifted out getting on the heels of LAGOON MYTYE (4) entering the bend leaving the front straight on the first occasion with these runners both unbalanced losing ground. As a result KITTY’S SHIRAZ (6) and THRILLING EVIE shifted wide losing ground. |
| Race 6 | Carol's TAB Manurewa Stakes - C2 - 527 | BEE LICHTER (1) and BORIS GUMP (2) were slow away. FORTIS FLIER (6) angled in leaving the boxes inconveniencing LUCKY COLLECT (5) and BLOO BLOOMERS (4) then continued to shift in inconveniencing GOLFING BUDDY (3). BORIS GUMP and BLOO BLOOMERS came together for several strides racing toward the first turn with BLOO BLOOMERS then also coming together with LUCKY COLLECT with BORIS GUMP and BLOO BLOOMERS losing ground. GOLFING BUDDY shifted out across heels entering the first turn inconveniencing LUCKY COLLECT. GOLFING BUDDY was held up on the heels of LUCKY COLLECT entering the final bend with GOLFING BUDDY then shifting out inconveniencing BLOO BLOOMERS with these runners losing ground. Trainer S Clark was issued with a minor infringement and fined $50.00 under Rule 71.4 for failing to catch BORIS GUMP following this event. |
| Race 7 | Jack's Wholesale Meats Series Final - C1f - 527 | OPAWA O'GRADY was a late scratching at 1.35pm on Veterinary advice. COOKIE MONSTER (2) and APRIL'S MY MUM (7) were last to leave the boxes. SCOTT THE LOOKS (3) and DIVA POSE (4) came together racing into the first turn. Entering the first turn APRIL'S MY MUM and JINJA MIA (5) shifted in into the line of COOKIE MONSTER who was checked shifting out making brief contact with the heels of RUBY MURRAY (8). As a result JINJA MIA shifted in onto PERCENTAGE GIRL (1) and APRIL'S MY MUM shifted out making contact with RUBY MURRAY with these runners then racing wide for a distance losing ground. DIVA POSE became awkwardly placed on the heels of SCOTT THE LOOKS for several strides rounding the first turn with DIVA POSE losing ground. RUBY MURRAY was checked losing ground when placed in restricted room leaving the back straight. |
| Race 8 | Railway Sprint - C5f - 318 | MADE TIME (7) began awkwardly. GOOD RETURN (4) shifted in making contact with SUBIC BAY (3) leaving the boxes. MADE TIME was hampered losing ground racing down the back straight when in restricted room between TALKIN FANCY (8) and ZIPPING STEVE (6) with these runners coming together on several occasions. Also inconvenienced as a result was GOOD RETURN (4) who came together with ZIPPING STEVE for a stride. Entering the first turn TALKIN FANCY angled in making contact with GOOD RETURN who was taking in onto SOLARIAN (2). As a result ZIPPING STEVE, who was trailing these runners, became awkwardly placed on the heels of these runners shifting out abruptly hampering MADE TIME with these runners losing considerable ground. TALKIN FANCY and GOOD RETURN came together rounding the bend. |
| Race 9 | Cup Night Invitation - INV - 318 | BROWN EYE BOY (4) and HALLO STAR (7) came together and jostled for a distance down the back straight with these runners shifting in racing into the first turn making solid contact with WHATU TRENDY (3) who came together with THRILLING GALAXY (9) with these runners all unbalanced and BROWN EYE BOY and HALLO STAR shifting out losing ground. Also briefly inconvenienced as a result were MY FIRST LITTER (8) and FIREMANS GALAXY (6). Rounding the first turn MY FIRST LITTER shifted in making solid contact with THRILLING GALAXY (9). FIREMANS GALAXY shifted out rounding the final bend momentarily inconveniencing WHATU TRENDY. FIREMANS GALAXY sustained a minor laceration to the left fore leg when finishing onto the lure with veterinary attention required and a 10 day stand down imposed. |
| Race 10 | Plasterboard Ltd Auckland Cup Final - C5f - 527 | CHIPPA LATA (5) began awkwardly. Soon after the start SPANISH FANCY (6) angled in tightening CHIPPA LATA who shifted in making contact with CAWBOURNE CLOVER (4) who was then taken in onto DYNA VIKKERS (3) who was briefly unbalanced. DYNA VIKKERS was then further inconvenienced when SPANISH FANCY (6) continued to angle in. Entering the first turn KAVA BLU (1) shifted out and SKUZI (8) shifted in with these runners coming together. As a result CAWBOURNE BRICK (2), DYNA VIKKERS, CAWBOURNE CLOVER and KNOW DECISION (9) were tightened coming together with these runners all unbalanced losing ground. Also inconvenienced was CHIPPA LATA who got on the heels of DYNA VIKKERS for a stride as a result. Entering the final straight CAWBOURNE BRICK (2) was held up when looking to improve into a marginal run between KAVA BLU and SPANISH FANCY with KAVA BLU then shifting in slightly, placing these runners in restricted room throughout the final straight. |
| Race 11 | Cup Night Invitation Stakes - INV - 527 | FABIO (5) began awkwardly. ABSINTHE MINDED (9) and BRALYN CHARLIE (8) were last to leave the boxes. Entering the first turn ROCK LASS (2) was tightened to the inside of ARCTIC ACTION (4) having to shift out off this runners heels losing ground with BRALYN CHARLIE (8) then becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of ROCK LASS having to steady. ROCK LASS and ABSINTHE MINDED came together entering the back straight with these runners losing momentum. FANTASTIC SID (1) was held up for some distance rounding the final bend when in restricted room to the inside of CAWBOURNE CROUCH (6) with these runners both then having to shift out entering the final straight when ARCTIC ACTION angled in. |
| Race 12 | Greyhound Function Centre Sprint - C1 - 318 | ROMAN ACTION (6) and STAINLESS KNOCKA (7) were slow away. BOTANY BEV (5) and SPEARMINT JUJU (8) made brief contact soon after the start. Entering the first turn SPEARMINT JUJU angled in inconveniencing BOTANY BEV. SPEARMINT JUJU then continued to shift in tightening SCOTT MY MONEY (4), STAINLESS KNOCKA (7) and ROMAN ACTION (6) who all lost ground with STAINLESS KNOCKA then checked, shifting out abruptly making solid contact with BOTANY BEV with these runners both unbalanced losing considerable ground. Rounding the final bend ROMAN ACTION made contact with the hindquarters of PRAIRIE KACHINA (3) then shifted out abruptly hampering SPEARMINT JUJU with all three runners badly unbalanced. As a result ROMAN ACTION and SPEARMINT JUJU continued to make contact for a distance with these runners shifting very wide losing considerable ground. BOTANY BEV raced wide rounding the final bend. STAINLESS KNOCKA underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed pain in both superficial pectoral muscles with a 10 day stand down imposed. |
