Race 1 | Super Pets Stakes - C0 - 520 | SHEERAN (7) was slowest to jump with CHERIES BOY (4) and ESTER ACTION (8) also settling well back. RAPAKI KATH (2) shifted up the track in the early stages. ESTER ACTION, CHERIES BOY and SHEERAN all ran wide around the first bend. SHEERAN ran wide on the home turn and in the home straight. HAVANA STOGIE (3) checked outwards off heels on the home turn. CHERIES BOY dropped out over the concluding stages and was cleared of any abnormality by the vet. |
Race 2 | Greyhounds As Pets Dash - C0 - 295 | OHOKA BILLY (3) and JOEY BAXTER (5) were slow to jump. MAGIC GINA (9) crossed quickly from wide out causing a check to NARITI (2) which had run outwards. MAIA BAXTER (6) was inconvenienced in this incident. Into the bend RIO MAGIC (1) and MAGIC GINA came together for a stride. On the bend RIO MAGIC ran outwards hampering MAGIC GINA for some distance with this pair coming together on several occasions. RIO MAGIC was found to have some hock pain following this event. Trainer G Bennett was shown the films and after considering his submissions and the injury report from the race day Vet, Stewards ordered that RIO MAGIC complete a satisfactory trial before resuming. |
Race 3 | Yella Mustard At Stud Stakes - C0 - 520 | AL'S ROADIE (1) was very slow to jump with TEPIRITA RATA (7) also tardily away. RED HOT ACTION (4) ran inwards in the early stages checking LICK IT UP (3). LICK IT UP and RED HOT ACTION came together racing into the first bend with the trailing TEPIRITA RATA forced over extra ground. OPAWA MINSTREL (5) angled outwards on the first bend pushing RAEWYN (8) wider on the track. On the home turn RED HOT ACTION galloped on the heels of LICK IT UP which was badly dragged down. RED HOT ACTION then ran wide checking the trailing RAEWYN with OPAWA BUCKS EYE (6) forced extremely wide. TEPIRITA RATA and LICK IT UP collided on the home turn when well back. Post race veterinary checks of LICK IT UP, RED HOT ACTION and TEPIRITA RATA revealed minor abrasions and cuts with no stand downs imposed. |
Race 4 | Coalgate Tavern Sprint - C0 - 295 | ELLA BAXTER (7) was extremely slow to jump. Stewards established from replays that the dog was standing well back in the traps and had not turned in the boxes. ANOTHER CASINO (1) blundered after a stride and settled well back. PASS WITH CARE (5) was slow to jump. NICKY MCBELL (8) checked off the heels of CRONOS (4) into the bend losing ground. CRONOS was held up for clear room on the home turn. ANOTHER CASINO and ELLA BAXTER were both checked and cleared by the vet post race. Stewards viewed a replay of the start and ascertained that no dog was denied a fair start. |
Race 5 | Amber Cleaning Services Dash - C0 - 295 | CHILE MUSTARD (1) was slow to jump. In the early stages MARK BE GOOD (7) ran sharply inwards and PRIVATE AGENDA (3) shifted outwards resulting in ANOTHER PENNY (4), DALLAS BAXTER (5) and FERAL HOKI (6) all being badly tightened and losing ground. MANDI MAE (2) ran outwards in the back straight coming together with MARK BE GOOD. CHILE MUSTARD was tightened into the bend losing ground. On the bend MANDI MAE was badly dragged down by MARK BE GOOD which was forced wide. MANDI MAE lost ground in this incident with DALLAS BAXTER being forced wide as a result. CHILE MUSTARD and MANDI MAE were both checked and cleared by the vet post race. |
Race 6 | Christchurch Casino Stakes - C1 - 520 | HOMEBUSH HANSOME (8) blundered on jumping and lost six lengths. PRIVATE ACTION (4) was slow to jump. UNOVA BALE (3) was tightened in the run to the first bend losing ground. BLACK SAILS (2) got on the heels of PRIVATE ACTION into the first bend with both runners losing momentum. OPAWA GAVIN (7) was inconvenienced in this incident. Soon after HOMEBUSH NAKI (1) checked outwards off the heels of PRIVATE ACTION. Early in the run home UNOVA BALE checked outwards off the heels of HOMEBUSH HANSOME and came together with OPAWA GAVIN for a stride. HOMEBUSH HANSOME was checked and cleared by the vet post race. |
Race 7 | Clarkson Sign Studio Dash - C2 - 295 | TERRA MONDO (2) was last to leave the traps. ZIPPORA BLAZE (3) was dragged down for a stride into the bend with OHOKA COBY (1) and TERRA MONDO being hampered in behind. HOMEBUSH RILEY (5) was forced wide as a result. GOLDSTAR BOMBER (8) lost ground on the bend after angling inwards and coming together with TIME SLAYER (6). BOTANY ZENVO (4) shifted up the track in the home straight inconveniencing CAWBOURNE DOZER (7) for a few strides. ZIPPORA BLAZE was referred to the vet for assessment and cleared of any abnormality. |
Race 8 | DogZone Stakes - C2 - 520 | ELWOOD SENSATION (2) and KNOW AMBITION (3) were both tightened in the early stages. ELWOOD SENSATION checked outwards on the first bend colliding with LEKTRA SPIDER (6) which had run inwards with KNOW AMBITION being squeezed up between this pair. JIBBAJABBA JEWEL (7) ran wide in the back straight. When questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner LAGOON TWIST (8), trainer C Roberts stated that the dog does not appreciate being crowded by other dogs and today was able to find clear space from its wide draw. |
Race 9 | The Turf Bar Sprint - C2 - 295 | HOMEBUSH RUFUS (3) shifted outwards in the back straight pushing STRUGGLE IS REAL (6) wider. BO'S BUSINESS (1) was tightened into the bend after HARKONEN BALE (2) had run inwards. GUMP'S THE NAME (5) and STRUGGLE IS REAL raced wide around the home turn. HOMEBUSH RUFUS was pushed over the rail at the lure and referred to the vet for assessment where no injury was detected. |
Race 10 | Carol's T.A.B. Stakes - C2 - 520 | This race was slightly delayed due to a duck in the back straight. KNOW WORTH (5), BOSTON BILLY (6) and BORN TO BOOM (4) brushed together for a stride in the early stages. LAGOON MAY (8) and KNOW WORTH ran wide around the first bend. KNOW WORTH remained very wide in the back straight. CAWBOURNE WALES (7) raced wide in the home straight. BORN TO BOOM was referred to the vet for assessment and found to have mild hock strain. |
Race 11 | Dave Robbie Photography Dash - C2 - 295 | GO TOMMO (8) was last to jump with CAWBOURNE DANIAL (1) also tardily away. Into the bend MULBERRY BROOK (5) collided with OHOKA HOPE (2) and dropped to the rear. Wider out HOMEBUSH FINE (7) was checked and lost ground. |
Race 12 | Snow-e Muscle, Energy & Fertility Dash - C2 - 295 | TULIP MUNCHER (2) was last to jump. LIL DANNY RASCAL (1) and TULIP MUNCHER were both tightened into the bend and dropped to rearward positions. Wider out BADUZZI (8) received a slight check when racing to the outside of BIG MUDDY (4). BADUZZI (8) checked outwards off heels on the home turn losing some momentum. |
