Weather: RainingTrack: Heavy . Despite the heavy rain prior to and during the meeting, Stewards monitored track conditions throughout the day with a steady improvement in overhead conditions and a drying out of the track.
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment: Nil.
Judicial report: Due to the heavy rain overnight and in the early stages of the meeting, with atrocious muddy and wet ground conditions on track surrounds, Stewards allowed some discretion in the dress code in respect of wet weather leggings and footwear.

Race 1 | WELCOME TO ASCOT MAIDEN - C0 - 390 | TRICKY ZORRO shifted inwards sharply at the jump crowding OZARKS DAUGHTER onto SACAJAWEA. SACAJAWEA was checked when racing between FINANCE TOMMO and BURNO just prior to the bend. TRICKY ZORRO was tightened on the point of the turn losing its position. FINANCE TOMMO was referred to the veterinarian after it was awkward in its galloping action over the final stages. The examination revealed FINANCE TOMMO was suffering from pain in the left hind leg with a 14 day stand down recommended. |
Race 2 | www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C0 - 390 | TUI TIME shifted inwards over the early stages checking WAIRIO DEE JAY. Shortly afterwards HOMEBUSH STEW which was also shifting ground inwards checked TUI TIME onto WAIRIO DEE JAY. WAIRIO DEE JAY checked off the heels of HOMEBUSH STEW. DA LAST CHOOK ran wide on the bend forcing MASTER AT ARMS outwards. |
Race 3 | SOUTHLAND AND OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390 | GLENN IS GOODESY began awkwardly losing ground at the start. On the bend OPAWA LAZ struck the hind quarters of TEE TIME with both these runners becoming unbalanced and severely losing there momentum. HOMEBUSH ROCKY was forced wider on the track as a result. COSMIC BOLERO and MR NOVEMBER were checked in this incident with COSMIC BOLERO losing several lengths. |
Race 4 | GREYHOUNDSASPETS.ORG.NZ - C1 - 457 | NORMAN JEWEL and OPAWA LOI made contact at the start. NORMAN JEWEL shifted outwards on the point of the bend forcing OPAWA LOI wider on the track. |
Race 5 | SGRC $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390 | RANGATATA RAIDER and CAWBOURNE BUTTSY both ran wide on the bend. |
Race 6 | ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C3/4 - 457 | GRUNT RODGERS and JESSIE SURFS were slow to jump. Shortly after the jump JESSIUE SURFS ran sharply inwards making heavy contact with GRUNT RODGERS with both dogs losing momentum. Into the turn OPAWA STELLA shifted ground outwards checking GAME GIRL and forcing OPAWA BART and JESSIE SURFS wide. |
Race 7 | ADDED ENERGY STAKES - C1 - 390 | BLAZING HOT was slow to jump. From the jump HELLO BLONDIE shifted ground inwards checking SAILORS COLLAR. Into the bend THRILLING HENRY ran inwards checking HOMEBUSH ERROL. |
Race 8 | BLUFF DASH - C3 - 390 | JACKS A JEWEL was checked when racing between BIGTIME TIP and LA FONTAINE in the run to the bend. JACKS A JEWEL and JOHN DORY bumped on the point of the bend. |
Race 9 | SGRC $50 LEATHER LEADS - C2 - 390 | CHARLES FREDRICK was slow to begin. COVER TO COVER and UMAGA RAMA bumped over the early stages. HOMEBUSH PAIGE ran wide on the bend forcing TONY'S CHOICE over extra ground. |
Race 10 | Far South Challenge Final - C5f - 457 | IDOL GIRL, CRACKING CHAIN, LITTLE REGUS and FAST ARCHER were all tightened over the early stages when OPAWA TOM ran inwards and ROQETTE held its line. IDOL GIRL and FAST ARCHER both buffeted one another in the run to the bend. FAST ARCHER dictated CAWBOURNE PHILIP wide on the bend. |
Race 11 | RIVERTON RUN - C3/4 - 390 | From the jump STING ME and OPAWA IDOL made heavy contact and lost momentum. In the run to the turn CHOKEHOLD shifted ground inwards checking GO TOMMO, and shortly afterwards HOMEBUSH BRUNO ran inwards checking CHOKEHOLD with the trailing GO TOMMO severely checked and losing all chance. |
Race 12 | justracing.com.au - C5 - 390 | CAWBOURNE AXE was slow to jump and ran wide around the bend. Into the turn FLYING SWAN was held up between HOMEBUSH CHOPPER and LITTLE MIDNIGHT and then ran very wide down the home straight. |
