Judicial report: The training establishments of all runners in the NZ Cup were visited by RIU officials during the week.

| Race 1 | Jet Pets Sprint - C3 - 295 | KNOW MISTAKE came up with the lids losing ground along with EXCITING KYLE who was slow away. ANYTIME WILL DO ran inwards at the jump checking VISUAL ILLUSION who lost ground. ST. VALARY was tightened along the inside into the bend and dropped to the rear. |
| Race 2 | Bill's Bar & Bistro Dash - C5 - 295 | The favourite DA BOSS was last to jump from the inside. HOMEBUSH SARGE ran inwards soon after the jump checking CAWBOURNE DUSTY and MIRAGE who lost ground. GENTLE ATTACK was checked into the bend as LES BAXTER crossed from her outside. DA BOSS checked outwards off HOMEBUSH SARGE into the bend and pushed MIRAGE wide with this runner losing her position. |
| Race 3 | Little Brown Jug Stakes - C1/2 - 520 | SLICE OF MAGIC and SMOOCHA were the last to jump. SLICE OF MAGIC ran on late for fifth. STILL HELINA received a nasty check on the home bend when racing outside of DYNA GROLL and dropped out to the rear with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. SMOOCHA was observed to be tied up after the race with his veterinary check revealing cramp but no stand down was required. Andy McCook the co-trainer of the winner GENTLE HAND was questioned in regards to the improved perfomance of his bitch. He stated that she has had a brief freshener and a downgrade and had been trialling well in preparation for tonight's race. |
| Race 4 | Mainland Press Stakes - C3/4 - 520 | MAMAJA was the slowest to jump from the outside. MAMAJA then ran inwards into the first bend checking YELLA MUSTARD who lost ground. As he was improving in the back straight YELLA MUSTARD checked off the back of MAMAJA and lost momentum. YELLA MUSTARD only battled from this point with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
| Race 5 | Nigel "Sharkie" Clark Memorial Cup - C5 - 520 | This race was delayed by two minutes due to a false start at Ashburton. Into the first bend ROCK CAKES ran outwards as BADJA BALE angled inwards with DYNA JOE and KNOW SPUNK being tightened in between these runners and dropping to the rear. |
| Race 6 | Carol's T.A.B's Feature - R/A - 520 | GEOFF THE REF was dragged down for a stride into the first bend with WALK DA TORQUE who was in behind unable to avoid him and falling on the bend. WALK DA TORQUE regained his paws and completed the race with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
| Race 7 | Borat At Stud Galaxy Sprint Final - C5f - 295 | KNOW JOY received slight tightening on the home turn from BIG GIFT on her outside. Following the race KNOW JOY was found to have a ruptured toe ligament with a 28 day stand down recommended. |
| Race 8 | David Emerson Consultancy Stakes - C3 - 520 | RINGOS COLT was slow and EMIE ROSE missed the jump badly settling well back. In the early stages EMILY and EFF FIVE WARNING came together. CROSSFIRE MAX checked outwards and ran wide into the first bend losing ground. |
| Race 9 | Buy Sell & Exchange NZ Cup Final - C5f - 520 | FREDDY JOHN was last to jump and then ran outwards checking MAGIC LASS who dropped to the rear. SIDESHOW BOB ran inwards soon after the jump taking the line of ANOTHER DOLLAR who lost momentum. ANOTHER DOLLAR then checked outwards off SIDESHOW BOB on the first bend before running inwards and checking MAGIC LASS. These three runners remained well back throughout. |
| Race 10 | Super Pets Sprint - C5 - 295 | BUSINESS TIME and OUR BEOWULF were the last to jump. ALBIES LAD ran inwards soon after the jump checking OUR BEOWULF who lost ground. Soon after PERSIAN OIL ran inwards as PURE CHEMISTRY was angling outwards with KINGA MIKE and OUR BEOWULF being inconvenienced in behind. PERSIAN OIL continued to run inwards into the bend tightening BUSINESS TIME who lost ground. On the home turn PERSIAN OIL checked outwards off ALBIES LAD and then came together with BUSINESS TIME wider on the track. |
| Race 11 | Jewellery Galore Synd Sockburn Cup - C2d - 732 | SLENDER CHANCE was tightened into the first bend dropping to the rear. |
| Race 12 | Speight's Sprint - C4 - 295 | OUT BY FIVE ran outwards into the bend checking ANOTHER WISH who lost ground sharply. WAFFLER was pushed wide around these runners and lost ground. On the home turn HOMEBUSH SARINA and ANOTHER NICK came together when at the rear. |
