Edward Rennell appointed new GRNZ CEO

Greyhound Racing New Zealand (GRNZ) is pleased to announce that Edward Rennell has been appointed as the new GRNZ CEO.

Rennell is an experienced CEO, with a proven record of positive results and engagement. He spent 21 years as the CEO of Harness Racing New Zealand, and more recently, worked as the General Manager Broadcasting and Operations at TAB NZ, where he was responsible for leading the TAB's broadcasting and retail operations. He has also chaired the Industry Dates Committee for the last three years.

"While greyhound racing has some challenges, it is very well positioned to continue to improve its position within the New Zealand racing industry and I look forward to playing a part in that. I am excited by the opportunity and look forward to working with the professional and passionate team at GRNZ," said Rennell.

Sean Hannan, Chairman GRNZ, says, “The Board is looking forward to Edward joining the team. He brings a wealth of racing experience and understanding to the role, and we consider that he is the ideal person to lead our code through the next phase.

“We are grateful that Glenda Hughes has agreed to work alongside Edward until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. On behalf of the Board, I also want to thank Glenda for her wonderful work over the past three years, especially in the area of improving animal welfare.”

Rennell will officially join GRNZ in September 2022.
