Golden Chase Entry Form and Terms & Conditions

CITY OF PALMERSTON NORTH GOLDEN CHASE 2021

To be run at the Manawatu Raceway, hosted by Palmerston North GRC on Thursday 1st April 2021 over 457m.

 

Race conditions

 

The City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase is an Invitation race:

  • The City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase shall be open to all greyhounds graded C1 and above who are registered to race in New Zealand at 7pm on Friday 12 February 2021.
  • Entries will be accepted by the Palmerston North GRC and confirmed with GRNZ prior to being published to ensure all dogs are registered to race in NZ as at the closing date/time.
  • Entries will close with Palmerston GRC at 7pm on Friday 12 February 2021.
  • An early entry fee of $200 in respect of each confirmed greyhound entry is payable BEFORE the closing date (being 7pm on Friday 12 February 2021) as per rule 21.1.
  • The early entry fee must be accompanied by the prescribed entry form, which can be located at either the Secretary’s Office at Manawatu Raceway or from grnz.co.nz in the advisory section.
  • The entry form can be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the Secretary’s Office and the early entry fee paid to the Palmerston North GRC with payment referenced as “Golden Chase” and Trainer and or greyhound(s) name.
  • No late entries shall be accepted in any circumstances.
  • An entry may be withdrawn prior to the entries closing date/time, and in these circumstances, shall be entitled to a full refund of the $200 early entry fee.
  • Withdrawals after the entry closing date/time shall not be entitled to a refund of the early entry fee in any circumstances.
  • Any withdrawals must be advised to the Palmerston North GRC directly.
  • There is no limit to the number of greyhounds who can be entered as long as each entry is accompanied by the early entry fee.
  • To be eligible for the final field all greyhounds must have competed in at least one (1) official tote race at Manawatu Raceway over 457m during the qualifying period.
  • The early entry fee entitles each individual greyhound to one solo trial for City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase qualification purposes at the Manawatu Raceway.

 

The solo trials shall be conducted in accordance with the following conditions from Tuesday 16 February 2021 until and including Tuesday 23 March 2021.

  • Notification must be given to the Palmerston North GRC at least 48 hours in advance of the solo trial
  • Solo trials can only be undertaken on a raceday and can be run from any box stipulated by the trainer.
  • All solo trials must be conducted AFTER the last race at the meeting.
  • If the Club is forced to cancel the trial for any reason, the qualifying solo trial may be rescheduled.
  • If after scheduling their solo trial the trainer withdraws the greyhound there will be no penalty, but the trainer will not be able to reschedule the trial.
  • All qualifying times (both race and trial) will be electronically timed. In the event of any equipment malfunction or dispute, the Exemptions Committee will be referred to, and their decision on times will be final.
  • Greyhounds trialing for the City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase will be kennelled and trialed under normal pre-race conditions, and may be subject to being swabbed.

 

Final field will be:

Those greyhounds recording the eight fastest times, from races or solo trials at Manawatu Raceway during the qualifying period, shall be invited into the final field. The Qualifying Period is from  Tuesday 16 February 2021 up to and including Tuesday 23 March 2021.

Please note: To be eligible for the final field all greyhounds must have competed in at least one (1) official tote race at Manawatu Raceway over 457m during the qualifying period.

In particular, the final field shall comprise the following:

  • Those greyhounds at the completion of the qualifying period who have recorded the eight fastest times that are cleared to race when invitations are issued on Monday 29 March 2020 and whom have competed in at least one tote race at the Manawatu Raceway over 457m during the qualifying period.
  • Two reserves, which shall be the next two (2) fastest times recorded during the qualifying period and as above.
  • In the event of any identical times which cannot be split a ballot shall be conducted where necessary under RIU supervision.
  • The final field will be declared prior to the box draw on Monday 29 March 2021.
  • If there are more than two scratchings from the final field, then any remaining greyhound in a match race will be required to race solo against the clock.
  • The Exceptions Committee will make the final decision if any race conditions need to be changed.

 

The City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase

The race will comprise four (4) match races, with two greyhounds per match race.

Match races will run as per the Box Draw; i.e. 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, 7 vs 8.

Greyhounds will jump from Box 1 or Box 3 (odd numbered greyhounds from Box 1 and even numbered greyhounds from Box 3).

In the event of a scratching(s), the reserve runner(s) shall take the place of the scratched greyhound(s).

The overall winner of the race will be the greyhound with the fastest official time, with overall placings decided in ascending time order.

In the case of any equipment malfunction during the match races the race impacted on will be referred to the Exemptions Committee and their decision will be final. In the event of identical race times which cannot be split, the dead heat rules shall apply and the relevant stakes payment shall be split between the two runners .

GRNZ will reserve the right to not proceed with the City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase if entries do not reach 20.

The final race for the City Of Palmerston North Golden Chase will be penalty free.

 

Any exceptions or oversights raised under these terms and conditions, shall be decided upon with a final decision being made by the Exemptions Committee consisting of Michael Dore (GRNZ Racing Operations and Welfare Manager) in conjunction with the RIU and the Chairman of the GRNZ Rules of Racing Committee (Robert Death).
