Barking Muzzles are Not Compliant with the Law of New Zealand

Following a Raceday inspection by representatives from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), they have written to GRNZ confirming that the use of Barking Muzzles contravenes Regulation 12 (1) (d) of the Animal Welfare (Care and Procedures) Regulations 2018.

MPI further confirmed that any non-compliance detected by themselves or SPCA would likely result in enforcement action being taken.

GRNZ urges all LPs to take steps to eliminate their use on unsupervised greyhounds.  Their use on Raceday will Not be Permitted from Monday 5 October.
