Huge Tuesday Meeting At The Cambridge Raceway

Quality greyhound action is assured at the Cambridge Raceway on Tuesday afternoon with 11 of the 12 carded races being heats to decide the finalists for the January 2 big-ticket Waikato meeting. The heats cover the 375m, 457m and 650m race distances during annual Christmas Eve dual-code meeting.

Three 457m heats will sort out the finalists for the headline $21,000 Farmlands CopRice Waikato Classic feature at Group 2 level. Here’s a look at those heat contenders, along with their respective TAB Futures and Top 3 quotes.

 

Farmlands CopRice Waikato Classic heat 1, race 8

1 Enjoy The Perks $31 & $8.50: He’s a C2 graded chaser who tends to settle back during the early rush for positions. He can’t afford to use that tactic here.  

2 Bigtime Dynasty $41 & $11: He pressed on soundly for his seven-length Friday C3 520m third placing which was in a quickly run event (to Melita Vella). He’s racing out of class here. 

3 Go Vegas $10 & $3.20: He’s a competitive Canterbury trained chaser who holds a class edge over most of his rivals in this heat here. That says he holds stake claims here.

4 Kiwi Gun $81 & $21: She was held in the rear group throughout in her last start Hatrick 520m Restricted Age feature event. She has previously won over 457m here in 26.10s.

5 Seve $7.50 & $2.60: He has been on a recent charge up the grades and he owns a smart 25.81s best Ascot Park winning 457m time. That says he can’t be ignored in this heat.

6 Thrilling Stomp $18 & $4.70: This bloke can be expected to be sighted finishing strongly down the outer here and he can feature at the business end of this heat.    

7 Big Time Ocean $10 & $3.20: She is a recent Group 1 Hatrick 520m runner up who owns an abundance of early pace. She can make things rather interesting for a long way by using that asset here.

8 Bigtime Annie $31 & $8.50: This girl must rediscover her known sharp early pace if she’s going to feature here. Her draw can potentially assist her to jump onto the pace here.

Farmlands CopRice Waikato Classic heat 2, race 9

1 Archie John Hill $16 & $4.20: He has been contesting recent South Island sprints and he has been competitive in doing so. He started his career by winning three 520m races, plus he also took out an Ascot Park 457m race in 26.39s.

2 Ozzie $14 & $4.20: He was last sighted back in October when he ran away and hid from his C1/2 457m rivals when easily winning in 26.57s. Facing a tougher task, however he owns a fair bit of ability.   

3 Zorro $26 & $7: He’s a proven 457m locally trained chaser who can feature here owing to the track experience he owns here. He owns a 25.81s best winning 457m time here.

4 Big Time Rhino $41 & $11: He gamely chased after the freewheeling pacemaker, then he peaked late on his gallop when he contested his Friday Hatrick C3 520m race. He’s out graded here.

5 Vacant Box

6 Big Time Seth $10 & $3.20: He has produced sound recent 520m and 457m C4/5 races. He owns a tidy 25.76s best winning Palmerston North 457m clock and that says he holds qualifying claims here.

7 Bigtime Bruno $18 & $5: He has been matching his paws in strong recent 520m and 457m fields where he hasn’t received any racing favours. He must jump ono the pace here.  

8 Mother’s Touch $101 & $26: Her wide running racing tactics says that she’ll enjoy racing from out here, however she’s giving away class to her rivals being C2 assessed.

Farmlands CopRice Waikato Classic heat 3, race 10

1 Big Time Izzy $14 & $4.20: She was a bold Friday Hatrick 30.12s C3/4 520m winner who has drawn nicely here. A repeat of her Hatrick effort can see her featuring for a long way here.   

2 Bigtime Puma: Scratched

3 Bolty $3.50 & $1.60: He’s a sensation in the making, stylishly winning nine of his ten career races (Group 1 295m second). His flying last start 25.71s Ascot Park 457m win certainly confirms that.

4 Opawa Toddy $7.50 & $2.60: He continues to stylishly meet every challenge that he has faced. Another solid effort by him can be expected here.

5 Vacant Box

6 Stefano $10 & $3.20: He’s a locally trained chaser who has clocked a respectable 25.57s 457m time here. He has to be considered here owing to his local track knowledge. 

7 Melita Vella $18 & $5: She’s facing a decent class rise here, however, her meet best Friday 30.02s Hatrick C3 520m clock says she isn’t out of place in this field. 

8 Big Time Kobe $41 & $11: This fella is a railing chaser, who is going to detest racing from out here. He’s also out graded here being a C3 chaser.
