New Look Form for Group Races Friday

In the build-up to Friday night's CD super meeting, GRNZ has been compiling 'race reviews' for selected high profile meetings in order to test a new style of form guide for Greyhounds.

Follow the links to see an A4 pdf form guide for both the Accell Therapy Spion Rose Final and the Wanganui Toyota Dash For Cash Final.

The most obvious new element in the form guides are the race reviews that paint a picture of how previous races panned out for the dogs involved.  Reviews are a normal part of form guides for the horse codes but are expected to be well received for Greyhound racing due to the high incidence of interference in the running.

To fit a full review into the scarce space, reviewers are forced to use a lot of abbreviations including some new ones just for Greyhound racing; such as; the abbreviation "xx" means "checked" and "xxx" means "severely checked", "<<" means "veered left", "<<<" means "veered sharply left" and ">>" and ">>>"  indicate a Greyhound veering right and sharply right.

As with the horses, the race reviewer will mark a review as a "BlackBooker", BB,  if a dog is particularly impressive or unlucky.

Other features introduced to the form guide are; highlighting in yellow each dog's relevant box stats, "greying out" race records that are NOT over the same Track/Distance as the race the form is for, i.e. for the Spion Rose any race records NOT over the Wanganui 520m are greyed out, and showing in square brackets at the end of each race record are the (derived) actual times run by each greyhound - provided that they ran in the first four.
