The pair of heats contain an intriguing mix of canine staying athletes. Both heats are also legs of the $15,000 guaranteed TAB Pick6 which will contested over races 9 to 14. Here’s a look at those heat contenders including their respective TAB Futures and Top 3 quotes.

Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Collar, heat 1 – race 10

1 Go Belle $18 & $4.50: This girl is in for a busy weekend as before she trekked north for her Manukau track debut she lined up in an Addington Friday 645m event where she was sighted doing her best work during the run home in a race where the 645m track record was lowered (Perfect Result – 37.59s). She is a proven stayer at the top level as was seen by her bold pace making Ascot Park 732m win four races ago. She was gallant when she finished a margin behind Dyna Weslyn over 732m last week. She was also sighted finishing solidly for her Tuesday Addington 520m second placing.

2 Classy Witch $41 & $9: Her sole staying win came over the Addington 645m trip (38.53) when she finished strongly to snatch her win. She will head north after suffering from early traffic issues when she was impeded during the early rush in last Thursday’s swiftly contested Addington 732m event. She was sighted pressing on stoutly at the business end of that event.

3 Dyna Weslyn $2 & $1.25: The original $2.20 quote offered for this super star stayer has been snapped up. That’s quite understandable following this girls freakish 42.65s Addington 732n track record clock last week. As seen in that exhibition gallop she is capable of delivering a searing first sectional and then maintain a high pace for the balance of her task. She checked out the Manukau track for the first time on Thursday when she produced a real slick trial over approximately 600m.

4 Cawbourne Palmer $151 & $31: He has had a recent change of trainers and he is now ensconced in a kennel that is really currently firing out the winners. His staying record consists of 17 races, two wins and eight minor placings. His pair of staying wins came over the Hatrick 645m distance which included a 1.25 length win over the Group 1 755m winning stayer Cawbourne Taylor. This will be his first attempt over an extreme racing distance.

5 Vandagambo $11 & $2.80: This Victorian stayer had his first look at this track when he trialed over approx. 630m last Sunday. He produced a solid looking gallop completing his first sectional in 18.90s (318m) and second in 30.65s when he was sighted still chasing full of running. His staying career consists of nine races for four minor placings which includes a 725m second placing on the Meadows track. Three races ago he was sighted charging home late for his quarter length third to his kennelmate Billy’s Bake over the Angle Park (Adelaide) 731m distance.

6 Ebby Ripper $6.50 & $2.30: She has closed in from her opening $7.50 quote. This girl is a proven performer at Group race level in Australia. How’s this for having staying miles safely tucked in your paws – 98 races 27 wins and 40 minor placings ($288,521 in stakes)! She arrives north following two real gutsy Manawatu races. She stylishly prevailed over 660m, then she went under by the barest possible margin over 720m to her new kennelmate Rippin’ Sam. As the saying goes – there’s no substitute for experience.

7 Go Angel $81 & $17: She’s a litter sister to race rival here Go Belle, who is having her first crack at an extreme race distance here. She returns here after delivering her strong last start Cambridge 38.17s 650m last start win after having placed over that distance on four previous occasions. She must push forward onto the early pace from trap rise here.

8 Know Anxiety $26 & $6: She hasn’t won any staying race yet and that probably won’t change here either. She continues to be sighted putting in some giant late strides and that gives every indication that she’ll strongly run out the 779m trip here. She’s likely to settle in clear racing air here during the early rush here.

Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Collar, heat 2 – race 11

1 Shooters Hill $21 & $5: Geez, this boy is huge for a stayer – weighing in at an impressive 38kgs. His recent race issues has revolved around his slow race starts. He does gobble up the territory during the business end of his races. His sole staying victory came six races ago when he prevailed over the Cambridge 650m trip in 38.04s. His only longer distance race saw him finishing as margin behind Dyna Weslyn over 747m at the same venue.

2 Rippin’ Sam $3.60 & $1.45: He is a highly credential Australian stayer who despite living in the shadows of his outstanding staying littermate Tornado Tears certainly has proved to be a competitive stayer in his own right at the elite level. His biggest career victory came in the $100,000 to the winner Cannington (Perth) Group 1 715m event. He completed his Australian assignments having won 13 of his 28 staying races. Add in another ten placings and he arrived here having banked $339,313 in stake earnings. He has carried on with that top form since he crossed the Tasman as seen in his close up Manawatu 660m second to Ebby Riper and then he outstayed the same rival when he snatched his last stride 720m win. He has trialed at Manukau.

3 Bigtime Chloe $81 & $17: She was sighted pressing on stoutly for her last start 7.5 length 720m fourth behind Ebby Ripper after she had settled a long way behind the early pace setters. She did contest the April Cambridge Group 2 747m final after she finished fourth in her heat. Her only career staying win also came over the Hatrick 645m distance.

4 Billy’s Bake $11 & $2.80: This fella brings strong staying form across the Tasman with him. His 60 Australian staying races has yielded him with 16 wins and 23 minor placings, while his overall career stake earnings sits at a tidy $157,665. He was an Angle Park 731m winner (43.52s) two races ago. He has won over 725m (The Meadows), 715m (Sandown Park) and 720m (Wentworth Park) on the major Australian city tracks. He trialed over approx. 630m at Manukau last Sunday running his first sectional in 18.84s (318m) and completing his second sectional in 30.67s which was solid work for his Silver Collar winning trainer.

5 Know Potential $81 & $17: She occupied the rear group for the greater part of the journey in last week’s feature Addington 732m event. Her two staying wins was over the 645m trip at the same venue. Holding the key as an indication for her advancement claims from this heat was her half length 732m second to a Group 1 winning 732m stayer, while she also ran third over the same distance in a feature final.

6 Amy Amy $81 & $17: Her only staying success was produced over the Cambridge 650m trip when she completed in 38.12s when leading all the way. She is another stayer who is checking out the longer journey for the first time. Drawing out wide is of no concern for her whatsoever as she is a known wide runner. She also must place herself handy to the early pace here.

7 Cawbourne Taylor $16 & $4: This girl owns a Group 1 staying title which she secured via her strong pace making Hatrick 45.47s Wanganui Distance win over 755m when she led home Dyna Weslyn, who then proceeded to reverse that when Cawbourne Taylor finished second in her heat, then third to her in the Cambridge Group 2 747m final. She then wound up 4.25 lengths astern in of Rippin’ Sam in her last start 720m race. She holds sound looking advancement claims from this heat after she produced a bold Manukau Thursday trial over approx. 600m. .

8 Peekay Shout $126 & $26: This bloke is generally sighted settling back in his fields, then seen punching home solidly at the business end of his races. We saw that in his last staying outing when he finished up a 4.6 length third over 650m at Cambridge. He enters this heat as a C0D graded stayer.
