CE Update - August 2018

Hi Team,

This month sees our brand new GRNZ Conference open to market. This is a great initiative from the industry to bring together our best and brightest, as well as the best that Australia has to offer and showcase them all together to share their experience, wisdom and advice. If you can make it to one event this year, we strongly recommend you make it to your Industry Conference.

Our keynote speaker is Robert Britton, twice named Victorian Greyhound Trainer of the Year and awarded Metropolitan Greyhound Trainer of the Year in 2017. He is also the trainer of the million-dollar greyhound Fanta Bale. Not only will he share his insights with us at the Conference, but he will also be on hand for you to meet over dinner at the Awards that same evening. Get your tickets at grnzawards.co.nz and come to the Conference, the Awards, or even better, come to both - we’d love to have you there with us.

Also, as part of our ongoing attempts to bring new products and thinking to the industry, I would like to just pass a quick comment on the Amazing Chase. This racing format has proven to be successful, with a time based selection that invigorates our winter calendar with a fresh, fast-paced competition. We also saw significant uptake in wagering for the format so we know that there is an idea here that punters appreciate. We will continue to think about this concept, talk to our clubs and LP’s and otherwise look to incorporate the thinking and the feedback that should make this good idea even better. We raised a great amount of money for the benefiting local charity, Jigsaw Whanganui and have hopes to run the race again in 2019. Thanks to the team for arranging an enjoyable evening of head-to-head racing this year.

Finally, I note that the Messara Report will likely be out in August. We’re waiting for that to see what his views are for the future of the industry and as soon as we know, we will start communicating what that means for you, your local club and your community. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to seeing you soon, at the track.

Always a pleasure.
