Classic Age Racing Continues in NZ St Leger Heats

The quality Classic Age chasing action continues during the Christchurch Thursday afternoon meeting where three heats for the $15,825 Active Electrical New Zealand St Leger over 520m at Group 2 level will be held.

The trio of heats has brought together competitive fields. Here’s a look at the heat runners, with their respective TAB Futures market quotes – Win option 1979, Top 3 option 1980.

Active Electrical New Zealand St Leger, heat 1 – race 7
1 Hilton Forabet $14 $ 4.25: He returns to his favoured trap as seen by his compelling record from it. He holds sound qualifying claims owing to that.

2 Dyna Vernon $51 $ $13: He won out in a real torrid finish when he nailed his last start 30.49s C2 520m win. Harder, but he’s also building a tidy 520m record here.

3 Homebush Boden $81 $ $21: He has been short course sprinting lately. His sole 520m win (from nine races) at this venue was delivered in 31.90s.

4 Avenger Bale $4.50 & $1.80: He’s returning here after contesting the Group 1 NZ Futurity final. He owns very respectable 520m track stats here,

5 Goldstar Aston $51 $ $13: He was held in the midfield pack when contesting Thursday’s 645m event. He can place here if he receives a clear racing passage.

6 Idol Tom $14 $ $5: On track debut after his strong finishing NZ Futurity second last week. Expect a similar finish here. He was broken in on this track.

7 Perfect Result $26 $ $7: Making a moderate start didn’t aid his claims over 520m on Thursday. He’s proven here, but he must jump onto the pace at trap rise.

8 Kere Tere $51 $ $13: He’s a rather competitive, race fit chaser who must also push forward onto the early pace here.

9 Cosmic Stu $101 $ $26: He’s now a C2 graded chaser who obviously will be giving a slice of class to his rivals if he’s required here.

Active Electrical New Zealand St Leger, heat 2 – race 9
1 Cawbourne Krusty $4 $ $1.70: She brilliantly won the NZ Futurity last Friday after she finished second in the NZ Oaks at this venue.

2 Opawa Tab $31 $ $8: He’s a C3 graded chaser whose last start miss came in a NZ Futurity heat. He has no option but to hop away smartly here.

3 Invincible Sue $61 $ $16: She contested the recent NZ Oaks final here. She owns known early pace which is an asset she use here.

4 Egomaniacal $7.50 $ $2.50: He opened his open class winning account when he delivered his sound 30.35s 520m win here last Thursday.

5 Dyna Dave $7.50 $ $2.50: That was an outstanding 29.99s 520m Hatrick win he nailed last Friday. He holds qualifying claims based on that effort.

6 Must Be Rusty $41 $ $11: He’s returning to this venue after his stylish last start Invercargill Cup 457m win which was a win that cannot be ignored.

7 Full Speed $21 $ $6: He finished best when securing his C3 30.92s Thursday 520m win. His wide trap form makes for tidy reading, however he must improve on that time.

8 Goldstar Marvely $51 $ $13: Her recent 520m efforts has been solid, although drawing out wide here is a concern for her qualifying prospects.

Active Electrical New Zealand St Leger, heat 3 – race 11
1 Opawa Rooster $9 $ $3: This bloke’s qualifying claims will come down to what sort of jump he decides to make. He tends to be a tad hit of miss – he’s very good when he hits.

2 Viktoria Vikkers $61 $ $16: She has been racing just below the top class ranks which says this is a tougher looking assignment for her here.

3 Dyna Bart $31 $ $8: He found himself jammed up in midfield track during his 520m outing here last Thursday. He must position himself handy to the early pace here.

4 Lord Louie $18 $ $5: This guy owns sufficient talent to feature in this heat, however he must clear the early traffic to achieve that.

5 Dave’s Dot $61 $ $16: That was a brave effort he produced when he tried to pinch an all the way win over 645m last week. This is a tougher task here.

6 Andrea’s Magic $81 $ $21: She endured a luckless C3 520m outing here last Thursday. This field represents a steep rise in class for her.

7 Bookie Monster $18 $ $5: He attained his open class racing stripes when he delivered his pace making 30.64s C4 520m win last week. He must reproduce those tactics here.

8 Shallay Pallay $10 $ $3.25: He has been mixing his recent race distances. He was the Auckland Cup runner up and that effort says respect him here.
